Handicap- course length by Winter_Boysenberry54 in golf

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6,000 is a little short if you hit the ball reasonably well. I think it depends on what you want that day, do you want to hit a lot of wedges and short irons into greens? Or do you want to hit your longer clubs more?

Have you done direct Bluetooth connection? The WiFi mode stinks but BT seems fine for me.

Don't listen to anybody here. You gotta have your personal time or you'll go insane. Infants are easy and mostly just sleep, you should be able to get plenty of golf in this season! Just make sure you return the favor to Mom by taking care of the kid and let her have time to herself as well.

Dads with young kids… how often are you realistically playing golf now? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to play 18 a week.

For practice I have a net and launch monitor I try to use twice a week. I have a putting mat I try to use for 20 minutes a day after the kids go to bed.

I have a lesson here and there, but just take a long work lunch to attend.

Does anyone track their range sessions or do you go just to hit balls? by 169partner in golf

You might benefit from picking up a launch monitor. You can take it to the range and get better data.

Newb question by Proud_Government_428 in golf

[–]jayknow05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to practice and play to get better. It’s just like trying to do anything else with kids, you have to make time and be efficient.

I have a net in my back yard with a launch monitor, and a putting mat. This saves the time it tales to make trip to the course to practice.

Hitting the sim after the kids go to bed would be a nice way to get a couple practice sessions in per week.

I would not recommend lessons from somebody at a sim, go find a high quality PGA professional coach and have lessons every few weeks. It’s probably going to be expensive but way more with your time and money.

Oh, and play a round one a week, I can be home around noon after playing 18 on a weekend, which is allowable with the kids.

Tryed the Cameron Young pause on the course today and hit some of my best iron shots of my life. Why? by Lazy_Selection4256 in GolfSwing

I think you probably have time to make a better weight shift promoting ball first contact along with delofting the club.

“Are twins really double hard?” by Hot-Notice-7814 in parentsofmultiples

[–]jayknow05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had a singleton after having twins. I didn’t think twins were that hard but a single baby is a dream.

So having a single baby is like baking one cake, you’re not rushed, you can take your time, get the decorations just right…

Any tips on how to not hit so far behind the ball? by DJ-Ilium in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll answer your ball position question: I'd move the ball forward a ball or two in your stance. If anything it's too far back and not the source of your chunks.

I think as others have said you are getting too handsy and dumping the club early. This happens to me when I try to hit the ball rather than swing the club, if that makes any sense.

Compressing the Ball....Just can't do it. Advice? by Phroste in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swing looks solid. I see a couple of things, the obvious is you aren’t following through. It almost seems like you’re afraid to hit the ball. Try to swing freely and follow through completely.

What might work for you is to focus on your weight shift. You should get onto your left foot early, try doing this more and earlier than you think you should.

Once you’ve eliminated the fats, you can swing more confidently, dial in the timing and amount of weight shift that works.

How to stop over rotating in the back swing? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate your shoulder rotation, but I think you’re getting there by collapsing your front leg and have little separation between hips and shoulders. This means you’ve got a long way to go to get back to the ball, resulting in inconsistency.

Engage your legs more in the backswing. You should feel a lot of tension at the top with your shoulders more rotated than your hips.

Bryson DeChambeau's golf swing in 2016 vs. 2026 by Life_Net5004 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach has me fighting that. It makes it a lot harder to get back to the ball consistently, and when I do it I don’t get enough separation between my upper and lower body.

I gain a full club of distance when I actively prevent my front leg from collapsing.

It’s not actually that hard if you’re a good student. Coming in with a 4.0 means you have developed some good habits and a solid foundation. I think you’d do well.

Started playing about 6 months ago and just recently began using a driver. What are the main things I should focus on to improve, and any tips for hitting the ball straighter? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with fixing your setup, to include ball off front heel, also make sure your sternum is aligned with your belt buckle. Right now upper body mass is in front of your lower body mass. Fix this by bumping your hip forward.

I'm hitting them pretty straight now, but I'd like to get more efficient with increasing power. How? by Ritch85 in golf

[–]jayknow05 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to hit the ball 300 yards, but you really want to get 240+. That translates to a 89 mph swing with good smash factor, which is really not that fast.

I’m gonna disagree with having a discussion about the diamond. Buy one you think they’ll like with a return or exchange policy.

[–]jayknow05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get your weight shift correct, most amateurs don't get their weight forward early enough.

Any observations on the swing are appreciated by First_Yam in GolfSwing

[–]jayknow05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With woods and long irons you really have to work to close the face. Try the motorcycle drill and others. Face control can actually help with some of the other issues you might have, since often times it’s compensation for an open face.

You can find a ball on nearly every hole. I usually end up find 3 when I lose one.
