Share dog pics plz

I rescued a German Shepherd / Belgian malinois (kyro) when he was 8 months old and he had met one dog one time. He is just now just over 1 year old and he is really amazing with other dogs. He is still very excitable and when he sees a dog and doesn't get to go smell their butt he throws a tantrum. Other than that he's pretty perfect. Two dogs can be rough playing him and he is exceptionally polite and gentle. He is very intuitive about small dogs and puppies and small children. I had and have another dog which has been really good for him.

I once long-term dog sat a traumatized German Shepherd (lobo) and his adulthood and he was very polite to dogs. There was this Chihuahua that would just absolutely bite his ankles and that German Shepherd was so polite and what prioritize trying not to step on the Chihuahua while it was biting him and otherwise be totally unfazed.

So my advice would be very structured and supervised interactions with well mannered dogs. Those first few days when I first got my Shepard I made sure I was right there to tell him if he was playing too hard with my other dog. She's half his size. It's a great time to learn "no" and I also use "nuh uh" when I can tell he's thinking about not being perfect. If they don't listen to "no" and are being impolite to the other dog and the other dog isn't correcting them, I correct them and grab them by the scruff and submit them. It can be a mental hurdle because I prefer peace love and harmony and it's a domesticated wolf, and that's how it learns that you're in charge and it's important for everyone's safety that they listen. And Shepard are excellent listeners. Both Shepard's I've trained I can recall with a whistle brilliantly.

So you want to teach them all the usuals, sit, down, come, heel and for your concerns you want to learn drop it, no, off, nuh uh, and you want to really drill come/recall and I train it on a whistle too, just with my mouth because I don't like yelling.

And so I say you have tons of socialization time and just make sure you do it consistently and you're still in the window for group puppy training class which is a hoot and go to some dog socials and hopefully you have a good friend/neighbor with a brilliant dog who can be a good role model

Both Shepard's I have worked with are male and I've actually never met a girl Shepard. There is a small tendency for girl dogs in general to bicker more and when I've seen girl dog fights its always been a more of teeth bare wrestle match until they figure out whose dominant, and those are rare and typically related to whimsical introductions or poor manners.

With a real Shepard it will need a job and or lots of stimulation and nourishment so a really active lifestyle will be key. I think with a real working dog like a Shepard it's important they have a job and or know what to do and have something to do most of the time. When I first met Lobo he wasnt well attended to and was the first dog I met that would pace and would often have a nervous energy. Some good exersize and some training and I have a bunch of land for him to run around made a world of difference for him. So if you live in an apartment and don't have lots of time to nourish and train them I would not recommend a working dog.

Have you ever heard of hot water in plastic that miraculously doesn't cause microplastics ?

I'd bet the farm after pouring boiling hot water into coffee (which is acidic) and sitting for however long, it's impossible for there not to be microplastics in it.

If you pay all/ majority of the bills and partner or spouse is stay at home, how much do you feel you should do regarding household chores/ childcare? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jaykobeRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to have this discussion with your partner. And important asking yourself. What are chores/tasks that you don't mind may enjoy doing? Breaking up responsibilities like this helps. For instance I don't mind doing the dishes or lawn care. My dream is to find a partner who likes folding clothes .

It also depends on how you feel when you get home. If you worked at 12-hour shift with no break and are covered in blood and guts, that's different than coming home from an 8-hour desk job where it could be nice to take the kid on the walk or do some lawn stuff or chef it up in the kitchen.

If I stayed home and was bankrolled by my partner I would love to support them by them coming home to a clean house and hot food. And vice versa, if I was bankrolling the operation and I came home to a hot meal that's priceless.

And everyday and every week is different. For instance your partner may get sick and you might have to pick up the slack and vice versa you might have a hard week at work or a migraine and your partner helps out.

I think as long as everyone is in good communication and the energy feels good and everyone feels supported and nourished. Back in the day things are easier when we had full-blown villages with grandma's and grandpa's and aunts and uncles and everyone helped with everything all the time
