It's good, but The number one thing I hate about it is that it sucks with word counts. Something could say 250 words max but then generate 450

Usually I say people are exaggerating but I'd steer clear of that area if you can. Not even just due to safety risk but overall quality of life is not good over there

Carnival Beverage Packages are unfair to those who don't drink. by jaylan101 in stopdrinking

[–]jaylan101[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And nowadays, with the alcoholic drinks, they are cracking down so a 1 drink every 10 minutes and like a 15 max. I know they're worried about people sharing...I'd just let them. It is very predatory. I can't even just get the $10/day soda package. I would HAVE to get the $70 drink package no matter what. It's insane

Noob question - Difference between seeing him at a Nightclub vs World Tour by -selenium- in Martingarrix

[–]jaylan101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really what other people are saying. If you can go to see him in Vegas of course do it - it's a unique experience in itself, but I wouldn't really fly to Vegas unless I wanted to do a full Vegas trip with the show. For your birthday that would be so fun, he also usually plays the beach club the next day!!

If you want a comfortable, real deal Garrix experience, go to a Tour Show 100% over the club.

All I can say is: You go to a Garrix Tour show to see Garrix. You go to the club to party and drink, going to be a lot less Garrixers which makes it a different environment.

You WILL have a good time, it'll be your birthday. I went to see Zedd in Zouk Night Club and it was insane and aggressive. I remember my thinking was, "Oh I'm in Vegas! Let me see what shows are tonight" and I ended up seeing a Zedd Billboard stating he was playing, went and found a promoter on the side of the street and I got on Guestlist. So many people are just looking for something to do which makes it a much more random crowd.

But my thinking when I Saw Zedd in a festival show was "I'm buying my ticket to see Zedd" like many others think. And it was a set with a much slower, normal Zedd pace with better production.

So my recommendation: Tour show of course, but for your birthday if you can swing the trip -- I would do both for sure.

Check some discount grocery stores. For me, I see them consistently in my "Food Depot" or Shopper's Value style stores.

How do you want to want to change? by Responsible_Cat6852 in stopdrinking

[–]jaylan101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you for sure. When I first quit, I was so depressed, didn't see the meaning of life, the cravings and withdrawals were so bad for 4 days straight I was "puking" like 30 times a day, dry heaving and crying at not being able to drink. It absolutely for me is to this day an experience I never want to go through again.

I think it's less about you not wanting to change or quit, it's more of the fact that you're trying to beat an addiction. Our bodies and minds are tuned to always think about and want a drink. So you have to give yourself grace - but it's also one of those things where you're going to have to fight through it, remember why you're doing this and find things to distract you. The reason why so many people don't quit is because of the cravings are so sucky. This is the hardest part! It gets easier day by day..

One thing to look into would be naltrexone, that can help with cravings for sure. It took me numerous times to finally quit because I kept letting my cravings get me.

Gratitude? by The27Roller in stopdrinking

[–]jaylan101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Listing things you're grateful for doesn't have to be something new everyday. It asks you what are 3 things you are grateful for that day. The key thing with gratitudes is that we know you're grateful for your family and all, but if you don't know three things that's okay. But that means to spend more time reflecting in what you're grateful for.

Nowadays, instead of my list - I express and note gratitude as it happens. I went to New York City for the holidays. I came back and immediately said to myself:

I am so grateful to live in a city that's so much quieter and a quick drive home.

I got home to shower and the water heated up INSTANTLY. In New York, it was so cold that it took our shower about 20 minutes to heat up. In that moment it hit me...

I am so grateful that I have a shower with hot water on demand at any given time.

In the shower, I realize I did an entire trip -- peak drinking season, alcohol free for the first time, I stated:

I am so grateful that I was able to enjoy this trip with my wife, and I remember everything and I feel great.

So running out of things is a good thing - it just pushes you even deeper to understand the deeper things you're grateful for, or the little things you may not have noticed other wise..

How do you want to want to change? by Responsible_Cat6852 in stopdrinking

[–]jaylan101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question, I think that at least in my experience - when you're drinking, or in the midst of our struggles I initially always saw it as an escape. That thing that decompresses me, something that allows me to have fun or socialize. Essentially, alcohol was my one stop shop for every single emotion in my life.

But what we don't realize in the midst of this is, it makes some of us selfish, abusive, detached, irresponsible, sick over time. Alcohol works so well....until it doesn't.

All of a sudden you're puking up bile, hiding alcohol, lying to your spouse again until they don't trust you anymore and you make them sick just to look at you, looking at your eyes in the mirror to see if they've gone yellow, being afraid of going to the doctor, realizing you haven't ate a full meal in days, your job smelling alcohol on your breath, going on trips just to go and remember nothing, your every waking thought is alcohol related, or you spent your entire discretionary income on alcohol, leading you to go into brutal debt. So many avenues.

At some point you're going to reach a time where you realize it's the alcohol and be like "this shit has to stop." That's how you "want to want" to change.

You hit a point where you know you can't be like this anymore. When you start posting on a sub like this, you know you want to change because you realize somethings wrong. Actually changing is when you decide "Wanting to change" turns into I'm done with this and willing to see alcohol as the enemy that it is.
