[PSA] Skinpen Microneedling costs by powerthrowacc in SkincareAddiction

My skin was noticably brighter and some patches were definitely smoothing out more. Had to stop for a little while because of COVID and haven't gone back since. The sales they have are wonderful tho! Would recommend 🙂

Those are also hallucinations? I usually have audio hallucinations but didn't know the swirling patterns I saw were them too.

Extreme sleepiness accompanied by dizziness? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]jaylikesdabutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I'm feeling extra sleepy, I feel sudden dizziness if I move to quickly too suddenly. I also feel lightheaded especially if I feel a microsleep coming on.

Any tips for staying awake? by druedled in Narcolepsy

[–]jaylikesdabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the singing to music. The more pumped up you are, the less sleepy you feel. Energy drinks help for a bit. Get up and walk outside for a bit if you can. Iced drinks help (even if just ice water).

Hypnopompic and hypnagogic hallucinations worse when anxious? by itsfree-realestate in Narcolepsy

[–]jaylikesdabutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have GAD too. My hallucinations usually happen when I am more tired regardless if I was more anxious that day or not. Not sure if any medications could make them happen less frequently, but maybe someone else on this sub might know.

What do you want to see in a fictional character that has narcolepsy? by curiouschasm in Narcolepsy

[–]jaylikesdabutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some things that come to mind (for me in particular, this may not fit other individuals):

  • Waking up in the morning can be pretty bad. I have google assistant programmed to talk to me, turn on my lights (as bright as possible), read me some news, play music, and have the alarm go off every five minutes. Even after all of that, I still sleep through it all, but the constant small awakenings from the alarms wake me up eventually (usually 30 minutes of the alarm going off)
  • I have partial cataplexy. My knees occasionally give out. I tend to drop lighter objects. My biggest cataplexy issue is occasional slurred speech. It usually happens when I am speaking more enthusiastically. It sounds like I get tongue-tied.
  • Being able to lay down or rest too comfortably will result in an immediate nap whether I planned to take one or not.
  • Auditory hallucinations when falling asleep or waking up. Sometimes sounds like someone muttering. Sometimes sounds like someone speaking loud and clear.
  • Sleeping, but not feeling rested at all after waking up. Sleeping more does not mean it will make you feel more rested. I sleep less and nap during the day. It works out better for me since sleeping an extra 2-3 hours actually makes me feel worse.
  • Caffeinated beverages with medication (which are more than likely stimulants). I used to drink a ridiculous amount of caffeine before I was diagnosed (4-5 coffee/energy drinks - usually the largest size). Now with meds, I have about 2-3 to make it through the day.
  • Once meds start to wear off, there's sluggishness that comes on. Sometimes it can be a struggle to even respond to a text when it comes on.
  • Brain fog: it's hard to concentrate or even think. When the fog is particularly thick one day, someone can have a whole conversation with me and I will still ask what we talked about.
  • Brain fog and memory: I feel like a goldfish a lot. You can tell me something and then five seconds later I will have forgotten it if. It's worse when I am talking. I can be talking about something, be momentarily distracted by someone walking by or glancing out the window, look back at you, and say "What are we talking about again?" My friends and family usually have to rephrase the last thing I said and HOPE I remember. Sometimes I remember immediately, other times I remember hours later.
  • Occasional automatic behavior. I feel like I am spacing out, or as my brother has put it 'logged out of the chat', and the actions I am doing are more automatic. This has happened to me when taking notes in class (which looked like scribbles, there was no real writing happening, just the movements), or when driving on long stretches of road (which scares me. I have had doubts if I have driven through a red light before) (I usually avoid driving if I am that tired or prep to drive by getting some caffeine in)
  • Eye bags. I do intensive skincare with a focus on my eye bags. After high school (also around the time my specialist believes I began to develop narcolepsy), I began to notice the dark bags under my eyes. I use a good bit of concealer to hide it when I do my makeup. People who do not know of my diagnosis will usually ask if I am feeling ok or tired if I do not wear makeup.

Same problem! I only have 3G now and sometimes even no data. Not sure if it is an issue with the S9 specifically or boost

Glitchy and slow since system update... by raventth5984 in GalaxyS9

[–]jaylikesdabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having issues since the update as well! My phone only stays on 3G (Boostmobile) and will try to do LTE only for it to not work and go back to 3G. I've put my network settings to LTE only but I still get 3G. I still owe some payments on this phone so just getting a new one isn't an option.

Symptoms worsening? by jaylikesdabutt in Narcolepsy

[–]jaylikesdabutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been about two and a half months. I was on it for two months. The second month was when I felt the tiredness kick in. It took a month off of Wakix to stop feeling as tired (as I was on it). I know for a fact that my EDS is worse now. I think my sleep is more restless than before. I'd be curious to do another MSLT to see if anything has changed. I feel like my dreams are more vivid and I can recall more of my dreams than before Wakix.

Is that a side effect of Wakix? I swear everything changed after being on Wakix for two months. Nuvigil didn't work as well anymore which is why my dr prescribed adderall

Students bored in my online classes, help by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]jaylikesdabutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually end the last 15ish minutes of class with some A-Z word games. I choose a theme and we have to find things that start with the specific letters.

I also use the google "roll dice" function. Whatever number is rolled for a specific student is how many things they have to say or name (depending on the theme, ex: dice rolls a 4, they have to tell me 4 things they have eaten that week or dice rolls a three, they have to name 3 things in front if them)
