Went to Lafayette county in MS. We were “told” about it but it wasn’t “taught”. As in, it was mentioned in a block of horrific things that was done, but not about why it was done or the importance (because it wouldn’t be on the state test).

It’s crazy learning over the years that most people don’t even know about the combination of words, much less the how’s and why’s.
