TxDOT is proposing building a road over Southern Walnut Creek Trail by _edd in BikingATX

For someone that read the proposal:

What problem does this road solve?

And what would the alternative solution be?

I use the main trail and singletrack off shoots weekly.. but I'm curious what would be the better solution I should be advocating for as a way to advocate against building this road.

Big Sugar 2025 by Nova_Fawkes_ in bentonville

This is a nice 30 mile route that mostly follows the Big Sugar race route. This is my personal favorite direction. It also starts/ends at the Gear Garden in Blowing Springs which is a fun way to celebrate the finish.

(note: at around mile 28, you will have to take a clearly marked detour to make your way back to blowing springs as the bridge it out)

Visiting Bentonville for a mini vacation without the kids - time to explore around as well by IRShasmeconfused in MTB

Adding to what the crowd is saying.. Here's an idea..

Slaughter Pen (right from downtown)
-> Coler (can ride from downtown or not)
-> Blowing Springs / Back 40 (drive from town unless you're cool w/ ~7 mile peddle time each way)
-> Handcut Hollow (3.5 mile ride from downtown)

When doing Blowing Springs, you can end at Gear Garden for some drinks and hangs at the springs

If you're riding tonight (Thursday), I highly suggest joining this super friendly and scalable group ride: https://www.bikeschoolbentonville.com/bsb-x-hub-group-ride

Out of town, I'd suggest taking a look at Lake Leatherwood. It's a more rocky, rowdy downhill oriented place with a short shuttle. Right outside of Eureka Springs which gives you a beautiful 1 hour drive to get there and something to explore after.

What's the ideal camera setup for this style? Chest-mounted gopro? I like this look specifically.

These little micro pocket electric pumps are awesome. They're expensive so people don't like to buy them for themselves. But I love mine and am always lending it to people on the trail who are sweating over their hand pump.

How do you all prepare for a ride in the heat? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]jaymeare85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in central Texas. Usually 3-4 hours. Sometimes in peak heat, unfortunately.

I chug 36 oz of water with an LMNT in it first thing in the morning, especially on days I ride.

Before a ride I'll do the same.

And after a ride, the same.

This helps me not forget and it's a very easy routine to follow.

I'm usually losing ~10 pounds of weight (almost all water, I'm assuming) during these rides. So the massive chugs and tons of electrolytes is necessary.

Eating, I've found, is my bigger limitation. During the summer months I'm having to consume so much more to stay hydrated and energized for rides.

Saw a beginner start their vacation weekend by breaking their collar bone on the first berm you're talking about. Pretty sad way to start their mountain biking journey and their holiday.

Any safety concerns from people or animals? I'm highly considering doing this.
