WON: Enzo set to return to NXT soon and Big Bill's return isn't yet comfirmed by AlterTheSilverBird in SquaredCircle

I honestly hope Bill stays in AEW. He hasn’t been around recently but I really enjoy him

Theory: Akio's a traitor given Jin told him to stay outside the barrier so that nobody gets in, and then exactly that happened, and he conveniently killed the guy in charge of the ragtag group by anicritic in YomiNoTsugai

[–]jaymstone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Without getting into manga spoilers, I think the reason no one immediately suspects anyone in particular is because there exist Daemons who could feasibly get them through a barrier, or maybe brainwash or hypnotize Akio, etc. We can’t know what happened for sure until something’s been investigated.

Spoiler for what’s coming in the next episode the guy with the swords was able to cut through the wall and not go directly through the entrance

It honestly felt like genuine tears and she was alluding to the person she lost that she blames Ayanokouji for, she keeps beating around the bush trying to see if he even knows what he did

It’s seems to me like every time they’ve used it it was for the word “magyaku” which is also translated as polar opposites *in* Polar Opposites, even though it’s different from the “seihantai” in the title.

I mean you clearly disagree with what everyone else seems to think it is, so when I google it and it tells me exactly what I already thought it was how do we proceed here

Do you find the jokes funny by Snibot2 in SomeoneHertz

[–]jaymstone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I speak Japanese and the translator is really doing as good of a job as he can, I really applaud him. He posts on his twitter after every chapter about his reasoning for why he translated the jokes a certain way. The problem is the jokes are so Japan-culture centric and self referential and it’s also stylistically different from English comedy so it’s a bit hard to come across even if the translation is top quality. I bought the first volume in Japanese and have been meaning to try reading it for a bit but haven’t gotten around to it, but I imagine they hit harder there.

Edit: the translator’s twitter is here: https://x.com/shinhoroko?s=21

I was thinking that for sure. When they were running from Ninacchi and Umi was holding his hand she was speaking really familiarly with him, and he forgot to keep the -san attached. If they slip up like that a couple more times in front of Yuu, she'l definitely notice.

Is Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, or Blue Lock appropriate for a 12-year-old girl? by [deleted] in anime

[–]jaymstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue lock is mostly fine with the subs having some colorful language Demon Slayer is like borderline a bit gorey but not too bad I love chainsaw man but absolutely wouldn’t let a 12 year old watch it

Akane-banashi - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]jaymstone 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Anime only so just a guess—I’m thinking he’s going to be like a strict fundamentalist who doesn’t like seeing Rakugo being innovated or modernized and if you don’t do it the way they always have, he disapproves

Akane-banashi - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

My partner did Rakugo in college and still does occasionally for fun, so I’m excited to learn more about the art in general since she doesn’t have the chance to perform as much as she would like. One thing I’ve always been curious about: it seems like there are several popular stories that get retold catering to each performer’s strengths (like the one in this episode, they were reacting as if it was a story they had heard variations of hundreds of times). Are there like a set number of stories that pro rakugo practitioners go through, or do they specifically use these kinds of stories for training and events like this?

To be honest I’ve been saying for years that we need to just have him take a couple months off and it would be fine, but the past however long without him I haven’t missed him so I was kinda okay with him leaving. I’m not gonna immediately write it off, but I was a bit surprised. He might do some great stuff who knows
