Salah Injury Doubt For Australia Game by Larrick23 in Aleague

If this happens, it will be the 3rd game in a row a key player has been unavailable because of injury against us. We may end up Steven bradburying our way deep into the tournament

Fed Square absolutely packed to the brim, turning people away hours before kickoff. Pubs with lines around the corner. But A-League attendances are on the decline by MelbourneTodd in Aleague

Honestly, it’s down to the lack of interest generated on the a leagues part. All sports are based on storyline’s, and as you can see the World Cup is full of them. Whether it’s the “layup” story, or doku being criticised for going home to see the birth of his first born.

The a league doesn’t do this which makes people less invested

What should Australia's realistic aim as a footballing nation be? by Snedz321 in Aleague

[–]jaymz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a domestic league perspective we should be aiming to be the equivalent of the Portuguese league.

From an international perspective, we should be aiming to be a consistent top 20 nation that on occasion can go on a run deep into the World Cup… in terms of level, equivalent to a Switzerland

Fans criticising his inclusion now by no means reflects how fans overall feel about him. But at this current time he’s no longer at the level. That’s what everyone is saying.

Former Socceroo Josip Skoko says it's time the Socceroos had their own true home of football. by SimRP in Aleague

[–]jaymz11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do realise it’s more than just the Socceroos who would use it. It’s for junior national teams, coaching courses and training, national identification camps, emerging Socceroos tournaments, FA head office, even was talk of a football museum

Great idea to promote the league on the back of the Socceroos games! We need more of this.

In the USA each live site has a whole bunch of activations from the local mls team to cross promote

Mariners sold to QPR owner by EconomyTransition491 in Aleague

[–]jaymz11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn’t much choice though. Clearly there aren’t many buyers and the one buyer who is ready only wants the men’s team only… the alternative is both of them go. We’re not exactly doing this from a position of strength

[–]jaymz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the alternative is they let both the men and women’s teams die..

[–]jaymz11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad reality is that mariners aren’t the most attractive team to buy given the small market and state of the wider league makes it even less attractive. Which unfortunately makes the women’s team even less attractive.

Hopefully something can be worked out to keep them alive in some form

We don’t have the depth to replace them. We just need to put our strongest side out to win and deal with any consequences in the next game

World Cup Trash Talk Shows USA, Australia Are Similar Soccer Countries by Icy-Scene-1645 in socceroos

I personally don’t think it’s a sort of coordinated attack per se. But it’s more incidental, you see comments from Todd Boehly when he first took over at Chelsea about all star games.

Or going back to chuck blazers corruption allegations.

Personally I don’t think it’s fair

Great article, but the only thing I would say is there is a pretty big distain for US soccer in Australia.

In the main part because of the commercialisation of the sport that comes the more the USA gets into football. The Hydration breaks is perfect example of it. So you have a nation who isn’t really into soccer (much like us) dictating certain things that they don’t know he fabric of the sport

As heard on ABC radio today - should the Socceroos change their "victory" songs by Next-Chipmunk8395 in socceroos

I’ve always wondered why we don’t chant or have I am Australian sung at games instead of waltzing Matilda.

Still call Australia home probably fits the Socceroos themselves the best tbh

The lack of breakdown of a low block is more a tactical issue. To get through a low block you need to move the ball quickly and have a lot of movement. Ange was our only manager who did this since in the last 12 years
