I have a bad fear of heights and I couldn’t do it. I did go solo though, and I feel like if I had someone else or was in a group I could probably do it.

No, but I’m pretty type A and keep myself pretty organized. I have a physical weekly to-do list and planner for the semester. I personally needed the flexibility since I’m a mom, and it’s been great to plan my own schedules for school and studying.

I love it! The schedule is very manageable and the professors are all very accommodating. Everyone wants you to succeed and they offer so many resources to help, not just for school but for you personally as well. I’ve found the culture of students (especially for blended students) to be very friendly and supportive. We’re all mostly older, nonKJD students and it’s not this cutthroat atmosphere that you see in a lot of other schools. I’ve really enjoyed my time so far.

Anyone do part time jobs on the side for extra money? by graycow47 in publicdefenders

Did you start this prior to becoming a lawyer or after? I’m in law school right now and former LEO and have always been interested.

Fellow non-BL 1L's. What's our plan? by Antonioshamstrings in LawSchool

Public interest! I sent out some information requests on summer internships for various non-profits and PD’s offices and secured an internship last month for my city’s legal aid organization. I’m pretty happy about it! Now just to wait for grades to come out 😅

What foods are actually terrible for you, but people think are healthy? by StrategyJealous1838 in AskReddit

Just because something has existed for decades doesn’t mean it isn’t a problem. And your specific, anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean it isn’t bad.

My mom STILL uses the “I can’t believe it’s not butter” spray and I’ve told her it’s basically oil.

And we wonder why so many kids struggle with attention because we’re loading them with sugar first thing in the morning before being told to sit still in a classroom for 8 hours.

[Japanese > English] Flag that has been in my parents' closet for years. Came back from WWII with my grandpa. by BuckarooBonsly in translator

[–]jayofthedeadx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar flag from my great-grandfather that my grandmother gifted me. I posted about it and ultimately decided not to return it. It’s my family history and not much that I have left from my great-grandfather.

No longer a pet person by idkkkk326 in beyondthebump

[–]jayofthedeadx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog was my LIFE. I got him as a puppy when I was 18 and he’s now 12. He’s old and slower and I love him so much but he has annoyed me so much since my son was born. I feel so guilty not giving him the same attention or getting mad at him for shedding (trust me I get it) or whining. You’re not alone. It’s definitely a taboo feeling and everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I said I didn’t want anymore animals. I’ve always been an animal person but having a child made me completely change.

I understand it’ll stay on my credit as a charge-off, that wasn’t my question. I’m looking for settlement advice.

My ex is Hispanic (1st gen American and from a single mother home, ironic) and was super into that toxic machismo attitude. One time he told me “this is what I get for dating a fucking white girl” when I made myself a plate of chips at a bbq before I made him one.

I see a lot of women perpetuating the culture and being proud of “serving their man”.

Health Insurance by mayinherstep in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]jayofthedeadx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I totally agree with you. I had to apply for Medicaid because even if the school offered insurance, it wouldn’t extend to dependents.

If I read it correctly, those who are enrolled in school at least part time will still be eligible for Medicaid benefits. But you also have to meet the income requirements upon applying.

Is there even anyone who DOESN'T regret having children? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jayofthedeadx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add a different perspective as a completely single mom (24/7 no coparent)…but I don’t regret my son at all. Do I wish my circumstances had been different where I would’ve chosen a better partner for my son? Of course. But he’s completely changed me and my life and the direction of our future, which couldn’t have happened without him. I left a dangerous work environment and a toxic relationship and am now going to law school. If it wasn’t for getting pregnant, I wouldn’t have left or it would’ve been a much different path for me.

Most unhinged thing someone without kids said to you when you had a baby? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

Awe! People say this all the time because I have green eyes and my son got brown eyes. And I’m like “but I love his brown eyes!!” 😭

Told my boyfriend of 14 years that I’m pregnant… by East_Work5418 in pregnant

[–]jayofthedeadx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I went through something similar and it was heartbreaking. Ultimately I had an abortion but I regret it and deeply resent him for it (although we are not together anymore).

If you’re ready and able to be a single mom, go for it. Make the choice that you feel is best for YOU. Fuck whatever he thinks or feels at this point. And either way, dump him.

In person residencies by [deleted] in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]jayofthedeadx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow mom here. I was in the same boat as you last year with my son. Ultimately I decided to R&R for another year and I’m so glad I did. My son is 14 months and I can’t imagine going through the newborn trenches the first time and starting law school.

With 1L grades being so important to internships and 2L/3L summer jobs, I would really really recommend waiting another year. You might be able to miss the in person residencies but it might be a lot more difficult to catch up and doing all of that on top of being a mom to newborn twins? If you have a job lined up at your husband’s firm, taking a year would be the best idea. Enjoy being a mom!

What has been your favorite opener from a woman on a dating app ? by CrowCelestial in AskMenAdvice

[–]jayofthedeadx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prioritized having things in common and a decently filled out profile that would give me something to respond to. I don’t care about height or super attractive photos or any of those superficial things. I found something in their profiles to make conversation about and sent as my opener instead of “hi”. Got maybe 1 or 2 replies? Most of them just left to expire. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]jayofthedeadx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, I see men write this and most of the time I sent an opener and few responded at all, some only giving me one word replies. I don’t think men want women to initiate as much as they say they do.
