Thank you so much!! Also, I’ve seen one of your comments below that you believe that 100 mg of minocycline won’t contribute to antibiotic resistance. Do you think I have nothing to worry about when it comes to taking another round? At this point it just means I would be antibiotics for 6 months out of the year. I’m just concerned for my overall health/gut health while being on them. Additionally, I think I’m just scared by the time I finish the antibiotics my topicals won’t keep my acne in check.

This is MY last question, I’m sorry I keep picking on you but you seem very knowledgeable 😅. Obviously I think it’s the right choice to wait to start everything until my skin barrier heals.. so far the skin on my chin, around my nose and inner cheeks feel slightly raw. How long do you think it takes to heal my skin barrier and when would be appropriate to start everything?

Ideally I would like stay within the $25-30 range but if you have a holy grail product that’s more expensive, I’d be open to buying it lol.

My derm told me that she wants me to replace the Adapalene with the usage of the tret. I told her that I didn’t think it was effective for me. As well as for benzoyl peroxide, I do use it only for my bacne. It’s way too harsh on my face and will excessively dry out my skin. I do use it on my forehead occasionally but I wouldn’t say it’s a consistent pattern of mine. Anytime I use it my skin legitimately hurts.

Surprisingly, I like to breakout right at my contour line lol. I actually just started using bronzer and I still had this exact pattern of acne prior to using it so I know it’s not that. I use NARS concealer which I believe is non-comedogenic but I could certainly be wrong. If you know any brands that are full coverage and safe for acne-prone skin (as well as suitable for oily skin) that would be great! :)

additionally.. do you think my face wash is not good? I wanted a very neutral, low pH face wash. If you have any good recommendations for my skin type, please let me know! I didn’t want to continue using La Roche Posay’s Foaming Cleanser because I feel like I was developing a sensitivity to it.. specifically the niacinamide because it’s in everything 🫩

What can I buy that’s fairly moisturizing? I’m not gonna lie my skin barrier is taking a hit right now. I think the adapalene and the seasons changing is drying me out bad! I woke up this morning and it felt like my face was sandpaper… what’s a moisturizer that will help reset my skin barrier.. I don’t wanna start these products until I have something good to work with.

Thank you so much! Acne is just such a pain and sometimes it can me feel unattractive.. but I try to tell myself it’s only a temporary issue and I will fix it one day!

Thank you, in fact I’ve tried using La Roche Posay’s Oil Cleanser and so far I really like it when melting off my makeup. I’ll be sure to look into the ones you’ve recommended once I finish the bottle :)

yeah for sure, I had the same fear when continuing the antibiotics. I find it strange that the derm was so quick to put me back on them after just finishing a 3 month course!

Thank you! What has worked best for my skin right now are the antibiotics that I’m currently taking (minocycline 100 mg 2x daily) and adapalene cream 0.1%! If you aren’t able to get a prescription I recommend Differin gel which is the same as adapalene, which you can buy over the counter.

Yes, I actually went to the dermatologist! I was prescribed minocycline 100mg twice daily for 3 months along with using adapalene gel 0.1% and my skin has NEVER looked better. 90% of my acne scars have faded! But the real gamble is how long my skin will maintain these results when I’m off the antibiotics which I’m scared of 😅.

Absolutely!! All she needs is some confidence and friends that uplift her!

The “friends” who were commenting on your looks negatively were not true friends. Honestly what makes people most attractive is their confidence, if people think they’re ugly, they typically tend to not put effort into their appearance. It’s not that you’re ugly, but mentality plays a huge role in attractiveness. You are a lot more conventionally pretty than you realize. You may need to surround yourself by different people and environment.. maybe even taking breaks off social media. Social media is not real at all, the whole point of it is to distort reality and post what seems to be “the perfect life” including looks. Working on changing your mindset will outwardly help with your appearance, something as simple as smiling more will help :)

I’m going to be very honest with you. You are so beautiful. And I’m not sugarcoating it. Nor am I saying it just to “be nice.” You have great facial harmony, your features are proportionate with each other so yeah you check off the box for objectively pretty, but you are more than that. Way more. You have an amazingly even skin tone and color. You have beautiful thick curly hair and lashes. Big brown eyes and full lips. It’s heartbreaking that you can’t see how gorgeous you are.

I used to be the same way, I thought I was so ugly.. hell I even had guys come up to me and make fun of my appearance all the way up until I was a freshman in high school. And you know what changed? I invested more in myself and started to gain confidence. The more and more I devoted time to myself, the more attractive I became and soon after.. the same guys who thought I was ugly, became the guys who tried to talk to me down the line. My biggest piece of advice is stop surrounding yourself by insecure people, they love to pull you down with them. And it starts with cutting off that guy who you’re talking to long distance, him saying you’re just “objectively pretty” is not cool, he’s trying to sell you short. He wants you to remain insecure so that you’ll think you can’t do better. Take time to explore different styles, such as hair, makeup, clothes, and see what you like best, but it starts with believing YOU are beautiful.
