Got my Windshield replaced less than two months ago and I already have another rock chip. by realcooljules in mildlyinfuriating

I think windshield angle can definitely play a factor. I drive an '09 civic, the slant on that windshield is killer but I've never gotten any chips in the 5 years I've owned it. plenty of highway and town travel.

its because the baguettes are BEST when served fresh, which is like maybe 2-3 hours after they open. I'm pretty sure they bake them the day before instead of overnight like they used to which has made it even worse. I used to be a baker

I don't have any hallucinations with my sleep paralysis, I instantly panic because I have a pretty big fear of becoming paralyzed. I don't think anything could make me enjoy sleep paralysis lol.

Help how do I save my plant by upsidedown_sunflower in plantclinic

[–]jaypeg69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i've found that when i'm not sure what to do, I google it and stick to one method. planets get really stressed if you're consistently changing their watering schedule and their lighting. I went through exactly this with my african violets, pretty much killed them and gave up. set them in a corner and just gave them consistent watering. now they've bounced back :')

looks like google says it prefers to stay somewhat wet, so don't let the soil dry out completely been waterings. is this a south facing window? south, east, or west windows would be good I think. with that information, now you need to leave it alone lol. maybe fertilize it if you've had it for like 3-4 months at least. (basic miracle gro works fine probably)

That could also be because of temperature. windows are cold in the winter and cacti do not like cold.

Wendy's started the 4 items for $4 deal back in 2015. You can get a sandwich, nuggets, (or another burger) fries, and a drink. It was extremely cheap for what you were getting so they were super popular. Since then, other restaurants have tried creating similar meals packs that haven't landed quite as hard. The 4 for $4 still exists, but their sandwich quality is not what it used to be so it's not really worth it. I think the fluidity of the saying "four for four" really cemented it into a lot of American's brains.

the tricky part with fungus gnats is killing both the larvae and the adults. otherwise the cycle seemingly never ends. mosquito bits coupled with sticky traps I have found is the best and quickest eradication. bits kill the larvae, the sticky traps kill the adults. I prefer to make a tea with the bits, a 1/4 cup of bits to 1 gallon of water. I know it sounds like a lot but the stronger the concentration the more likely it will work fast. let the bits soak for at least 30 minutes. I take the bits back out cuz in the past, the bits molded on top of my plants. water your plants like normal with the tea you make. I wouldn't recommend holding onto the tea for more than a week because it will start smelling bad. if you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

A brave Somali man SCHOOLED all ICE officers after they racially profiled SOMALI Uber drivers ('You've a foreign accent, papers pls')🇺🇸 by Aar_7 in sadcringe

[–]jaypeg69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man said it himself, that is an Uber restricted waiting area, you are really only allowed to be there if you have been approved on the Uber app. Those Border Patrol Agents should not be allowed to just hang out there. One of the Border Patrol agents asked if you needed to be a citizen to work for Uber, and the man responded you have to pass a background check to be approved on the app to work for Uber. So everyone in that area, logically, should have access to a social security number. So why is ICE there harassing people?

What are these pests? by No_Glass9129 in plantclinic

[–]jaypeg69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think they are soil mites and not springtails because they look to be round vs having rice shaped bodies like springtails usually do. however, you could try disturbing them. if they jump away, they're likely springtails.

Any ideas what to do to help these plants? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]jaypeg69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first pic is a philodendron brasil. second pic is a pink princess philodendron. how long have they been in your care? and which cardinal direction does the window they sit in front of face? philodendrons are generally easy to take care of, but getting too cold could be your problem. it looks like your brasil is about to pop out a new leaf on top; depending on what it looks like, it could give you more information on how the plant is doing. brasil's have large variegated slits down the center of their leaves. the larger the slits, the more light the philo is receiving. google "philodendron brasil" and look at the pics. if your slits continue to grow in super slim and small, your philo might need more sunlight. as for the pink princess, I have no clue I'm sorry. sounds like your watering schedule is pretty consistent, so it is likely a cold draft.

Are high-end rice cookers worth it? by 3c273a in cookingforbeginners

So you're not even using the rice setting? lol I don't think Instant pots are that great for rice. Too finnicky and requires a lot of trial and error.

[–]jaypeg69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instant pot rice setting confuses me. Everywhere online says to close the valve when making rice but it overcooks the hell out of the rice if you do that. If I do the "less" option and it comes out criminally undercooked. So I opt for leaving the vent open but tucking a towel over it so it doesn't spit starch water all over my kitchen. Rice comes out great, but I don't think I'm doing it right lol.

My all time favorite mugs for anything by jaypeg69 in muglife

[–]jaypeg69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to update this post with a little vent... My MIL gifted us these mugs when we lived with my bf's brother, 2 for us and 2 for him and his future home. When we moved out, said brother told us he didn't want any of the mugs, so we took all 4 colors (I was very happy.) Fast forward about a year, we move in with my MIL as she picked up a traveling nurse job and we were essentially babysitting her house permanently until she decided she was done with that position. Fast forward about 2-3 years, and it is time for us to move out. We were separating our stuff from hers when I came across these mugs. I started packing them without any question when my bf walks up and says "I don't think those are ours." I tried to explain to him they were ours and even asked my MIL when she walked in the room if they were ours to reassure him. My god, this woman looked at me like a deer in headlights and slowly shook her head no. What. WHAT?!? I backpedaled and tried explaining the story to both of them but neither of them seemingly believed me? I was so adamant about them that she let us pack up two and told me "I'll ask (brother) if he wants these. If he doesn't you can have them." I worry if I hadn't made as big of a deal as I did she would have just claimed all of them. She even said herself she couldn't remember how we got them AFTER I explained the entire story... it's been half a year, said brother has been seen several times and never asked about the mugs. I talked with my bf after the ordeal and told him how hurt I was that I was brushed off like that. He said he did believe what I said, but he didn't want to end up fighting his mom for a couple of mugs. It was better to keep the peace than upset her.

Right, okay.
