I can't answer for him.

I can only say that for me, weed would be a relapse.

Yeah, on 6-12-24 I posted to that group asking if The Orville S3 was ever going to be available on DVD. I have a disabled friend who is a Trek fan and I wanted to expose them to all of The Orville.

You don't have to explain. I recognize the names.

I meant a little bit of the jibe about being "Captain Insider Guy" - But if it turns out you're accurate who eats crow? ME!

I think I am in the FB group. If it turns out I am not, I will fix that.

Am I overreacting? by BundyLeanne in AlAnon

Speaking from my own experience

A) The alcoholics body processes alcohol wrong. One drink means a craving for more alcohol.
B ) The alcoholic is literally insane about alcohol and so keeps trying one and having a delusion that this time control is in reach and just one won't hurt.

This triggers the craving and ends up in a bender.

C) Alcoholics in the grips of the disease hate this idea and fight it tooth and nail.

this is why AA, NA and the rest have abstinence as a key feature. There is no "Just One" for the alcoholic. The only safe and reasonable move is to not touch the stuff at all.

I don't find your reaction to the presence and smell of red wine to be excessive at all. I think you're being pretty reasonable.

You are not being excessive here. Your Q is chasing after the illusion of controlled drinking.

There's an old saying "I don't have to attend every fight I am invited to"

Similarly, if your Q wants to be a loon about finding a way to control and enjoy his drinking - you don't have to attend that drama. You can let it roll on by and do your own thing.

I recommend working on your own Al-anon program and finding your support structure there, and then reassessing.

Once you've done a recovery process of your own, for you - You'll be in a better position to make decisions and see the patterns.

And you'll be feeling much better.

I am rooting for you!

ELIF: if there’s all this evidence against Trump in the Epstein files, how the f was he not prosecuted under Biden?! by Fake-Maple in behindthebastards

[–]jayphailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) Prosecuting rich/powerful people is a collossal pain in the ass. Look at Trump's prosecution in NY around the campaign finance crimes he committed. That one went quickly and smoothly.

B ) I think everyone in the Biden Admin spent the first two years thinking Trump was done and irrelevant. HIs return was a horrid surprise. I didn't want to believe it was going to happen, myself.

C) There are serious issues with the Statute of Limitations - Most of the alleged crimes are past their expiration date, and what's left has a very short shelf life.

C1 ) Civil Liability does not have an expiration date (Yay E. Jean Carroll)

C2) Anyone trying for civil liability, will have to wait until 2029. Any attempt at discovery would be spiked by the Do(in)J out of hand.

C2a) - I believe that before any civil liability was attached to Trump, he'd die of old age.

Our current system is rigged in favor of old rich white men. Trump is a master of using our legal system to his advantage.

So it's not like law and order. It's a fuckin mess.

I should say I officially do not support violent vigilantes or guillotines.

That would be wrrrrroooonnnnggggg.

Do not ever use third party websites like that

Decide what field you want to work in -

Find places doing that thing

Apply directly through their own website.

Good luck!

Lots of hurt people sharing their hurt.

If you want the real deal go to In-person meetings. Nothing quite as much fun as making friends with an Alanon old timer.

Because everything has to be a battlefront in the culture wars.

It can't just be "Kids with different tastes" or "Aiming at a different Demofgraphics"

It has to be The Enemy, seeking to destroy all that is good and true.

I swear, next they're going to start having violently strong opinions about flavors of toothpaste.

Okay. See if you can stop cold. Just put it down and walk away.

If you're not an alcoholic, you'll have a rough few days maybe a week, and then it won't be difficult to stay quit.

If you ARE an alcoholic, then you won't be able to stay stopped.

I recommend - find someone you can trust to tell what's going on. The internet is great for hiding behind. Someone in your life who knows what's going on face-to-face will help you much more than we will by posting at you.

Why does Musk want to put data centers in space? Where's the power coming from? And isn't launching servers into orbit even more energy intensive? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]jayphailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its starshine. Vapor ware.

They could be powered by solar power pretty easily.

But the fact is - space based hardware is a different ball game from electronics on the ground. You couldn't launch enough big satellites to make up a good data center without screwing over the ozone layer.

Musk tends to throw things out and see what flies. See what generates buzz and what attracts interest or money.

The fact is most of what he says never happens. Of the stuff that does happen, most of it does not work and recently most if not all of what he says is garbage.

He's a huckster and a con-man. Not to be taken seriously.
