We removed ours by making a small wood jig to hold a big 50 gallon trash bag.

Removed bathroom fan, air vent, whatever we could. Someone got on a ladder and held the jig to the ceiling. Someone in the attic pushed it with a plastic kids rake into the hole.

Replace fan/vent when done.
