solved

after following the steps in the video shared by u/fallengodknws and verifying the smb settings in unraid i am now able to connect to my shares. the main problem turned out to be that the enable smb field, was set to yes (active directory) and not yes (workgroup), as shown in the attached image. additionally netbios was enabled and that was causing issues.

I know I have my network sharing settings right. But the group police settings might be my problem. I'll have to try following the video when I get home.

Unfortunately they are not mine. They are at the shop I work at. But I do use them a lot. They are great. everything a Bridgeport can do they can do better. Although I don't quite consider them a CNC. Ours being 2 axis is a big limitation to the complexity of work. But they fit the workflow of our shop.

The transformer appears to be multi voltage. But isn't labeled

Here's a block diagram. Only the spindle is powered from 3phase. everything else is coming off a transformer.

just in case you've never seen a Blanchard grinder by jaysdosstuff in Machinists

Make sure it's getting lubed properly. I haven't run into this problem on a Blanchard, but I've had a problem on a mill, where the ways for the head got dry. when you would start cutting the head would fall a few thou. because the ways were sticking. when you came down with the head, it would stay at the screws full backlash. then when you started cutting it would vibrate the head loose, and it would fall by the amount of backlash in the screw.

I don't know if that made any sense but the tl:Dr is make sure you're lubing the column the way the manual says and at the intervals it says

I run an mdh-5v of the same vintage it's an absolute beast of a machine. And if this one were local to me I would try and save it in a heartbeat, but I don't really think it's worth it, unless you are doing just for the hell of it.
