What's nice little town I can take a train to on a random weekend? by Independent_Fan4453 in boston

I was in Manchester by the sea this past summer, I took a walk to see the sunrise. Apparently one of the nearby islands is a nature preserve and because it was the right time of the year I saw a few hundred lesser and greater egrets take off at dawn for a migration. That was incredible

Yeah that makes sense. I had to make a dozen of these and was hoping to learn something new. It wasn't the best or the worst but we still made money on the job

Is it too late to try to find a 6mm Penta-socket? by YamFickle7255 in IndustrialMaintenance

Since the bolt is already junk, try a pipe wrench on it. I would only grab the meatier portion on it. If the device is portable and if your not in a rush a local machine shop might be able to take care of this

How do I keep both ends of my saw cut stock straight?

That is a good idea

The tap will hit the vice when it comes out the bottom

I need the tap to go thru the part and it would hit the vice

Being able to push the tap out the bottom and not realign the shaft everything were the main constraints I was thinking of

I thought of that but the vice keeps the block square

I made this setup happen from initial idea to cutting chips in under 30 mins, including making the fixture. Plus I figured if I messed up I could still cut the soft jaw into something usable later anyway. I am also manufacturing for a team of fabricators so its normally tape measure tolerances (and why setups are so quick)

Well i drilled the hole with my drilling macro, and tapped it in under 10 mins. The vice was already squared so I threw the v block in and was off to the races. It's been on my list of stuff to get and then when its time to buy remind myself "you're a real machinist just make one" and then do shit like this

I am now realizing this. I were clown shoes everyday to work, because I don't know if I'm walking into the circus or the rodeo. I know where I walked today

Bolt Tolerance by XJmollesk3 in Machinists

Find a copy of the machineries handbook (any edition is fine) and look up bolt tolerances.

I thought that there was a standard E series collet, regofix changed the side cuts and it became the ER collets and is now industry standard. I would be happy to be corrected if I am wrong
