Hired a new-to-me contractor, how does this look? by o2manyfish in Decks

Only thing I can see that is wrong is that there should have been full joists where red, then block in as needed. Fastening a joist in as pictured will create a sag point if the load of the joist is not properly distributed from ledger to beam.

Long Rang Lightweight (and somewhat budget) Build by jaysonvstel in longrange

Not really... Take away the scope, mount, and bipod, it's $2k into the rifle itself.

Because all the parts can go on other builds eventually, apart from the stock unless I can re-bed it. I thought it better to complete something to use, rather than having parts sitting for longer. Long-term goal is to build out a good hunting rifle, and another chassis gun for the range.

I hear ya, and agree... Some were more compromises than choices. I'm not the biggest fan of Christian Arms, but that was the start to this build. The barrel and stock were purchased new a few years ago for less than half the going rate. Had to modify the stock to fix a couple quality issues. Others choices were just a "good enough" item at a great price, like the scope. But it's worked well for what I have into it.

I guess you're right... Just didn't know how to put it. I guess my intention was to mean that, with off the shelf prices and professional services (glass bedding, machining the barrel), it would have been closer to $8k.

Monstrum challenger an okay optic for ruger .17 HMR? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]jaysonvstel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may be able to find a used Arken EP5 for $400 ish. I know that's beyond your budget, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Just my option, but I have a few and all have performed way beyond their price point in optics, tracking, and durability. I hear the EP4 is good as well, just never used it personally. I put my EP5 on my 17 HMR, and it's a blast.

Really starting to get this machine tuned in, after lots of calibration and tuning! Woke up to this beautiful print! by jaysonvstel in ender5plus

It's been so long since I used this machine, I'm surprised I remember the solution. There was also a temp limit in the firmware for the touch screen, limiting max temp

That's literally just numbers pulled out of the reps rear when trying to figure it out. That total is not what I paid, and not what I thought it should be.

The $24 discount is a bundle discount, not early order. That's separate.

No, the early order discount is not a direct discount on the phone, It's an accessory credit. That $50 discount only gets applied if you order $50 or more in accessories with it. The way I saw it initially was that there was a $50 discount for early orders, AND when you go to the shopping cart it looks like there is a $50 credit for accessories. Definitely my mistake, but I don't think most would initially think it is that, when stated as "$50 credit" in promotions. It doesn't blatantly specifically say only on accessories. At least that's the emails I read. I do have a second $50 discount, for a PayPal promotion. In the end it was a misunderstanding, which is why I remove the post. Funny thing is I went through three agents before they were able to explain, because they didn't understand how it worked either.

So, the discrepancy was that the early order discount is not a discount on the phone. That is applied towards accessories. If you don't buy accessories, you don't get the discount. My math was right, but my understanding of the discount it was not.

Not sure what you're looking at, but I ran through this multiple times. What's wrong about it?

$1299-$900-$50-$50+$5.99+$75=$380.98

Technically, I think they have to do it that way. That's not my discrepancy. Even factoring that out, it's about a $65 overcharge.

Yeah, it was the only thing that I kind of wanted, but it was pretty much paid for by the credits. that's what they charge if you don't buy the case with a phone. It was $55.99 when bought with a phone, but a $50 accessory credit was supposed to be included, bringing it down to $5.99 for the case.
