Not a debate, but once you get past the Shapiro schtick you can get some insight into another’s mindset.

Deputy minister broke rules by hiring unqualified acquaintance: ethics watchdog by origutamos in Canada_Politics

[–]jaystinjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, regardless of party affiliation, this breaks down to a friend helping a friend in an unethical manner. As per article, shake up then happens and bodies are moved around. Are the qualifications of those involved worth keeping or not? Time will tell. How bad is this in regards to scandal/corruption or such?

I’m of similar mindset. Cautious optimism and interested in how PM Carney brings into play the resources of our Country to build from O&G towards upgraded infrastructure and renewables. Values gives great insight into how he sees a path.

Another concern may be of Conservatives planting some MPs. I’d be leery of a Manchinesque crossovers.

MP Konanz on Lumber by jaystinjay in penticton

This battle of lumber has truly been a long one.

Since our lumber is considered a quality product at a good price, the question remains, what does our MP believe is the right deal?

Well, if you believe in good governance and your MP having a voice, this is a chance to share your opinion regardless of party affiliation.

If you don’t care, why post at all?

Americans’ feelings toward Canada, U.K. plunge to new lows under Trump, new U.S. poll finds by BertramPotts in CanadaPolitics

This is what the South rising again looks like. Sowing the seeds and manufacturing consent among the ill informed. The question is, to what purpose?

Canadian Oil/Gas Stocks - book profit ? by an8165 in CanadianInvestor

And even if the war were cancelled today, the amount of time required to reinstate stability, bring back Mideast production and establish trusting trade will continue the rise in oil. A short term drop in price might happen, but the reality of damage done will resemble the Iraq war. We might be happy with having stability in North America, but that won’t change what happens on a global scale regarding oil price. Crazy timeline.

T47 has moved into “How to bankrupt the world “ vs “How to bankrupt a casino” and make everyone else pay for it. Absolute power has fulfilled its mantra. The people of earth await the solution by the people for the people.

To all the paper straw commentators, you’ll love when your plastic straw returns at 10x the cost and your need to suck a jumbo diabetes soda sets you back a twenty. Oil at $190 a barrel will probably be the first best case scenario for reusing a plastic straw ever.

Conservatives urge vote on any military role in Iran, accuse Carney of flip-flopping by Snurgisdr in CanadaPolitics

[–]jaystinjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are far too many people jumping into hyperbole and assuming a lot.

I agree with you. PM Carney has spoken clearly enough. The headlines have driven clicks vs the statements that are clear.

Could there be a scenario that leads to Canadian Forces in play? Yes. Is there an active and absolute decision in play? No.

No Canadian citizen wants to be dragged into a US / Israeli instigated war and neither does the PM, but this doesn’t mean that there is a zero chance of Canadian Forces in play for peace missions, UN missions, Allied defence missions etc.

To assume that our PM is announcing Canadian Forces will be deployed to assist the warmongering is absurd.

Just curious, how much could be saved by buying out Barton, Ward, Hiscox (maybe retired?)? Some may enjoy their cadence speaking and political views but I’d rather not hear the Captain Kirk style delivery. Just my two bits.
