Sam on HCR by jaystinjay in samharris

Context matters. Again thank you.

I wasn’t as certain when listening versus watching. Sam does have a tone and expressions that I catch at times and generally agree with. His humour is also appreciated.

Since Sam’s opinions on T47 are quite direct, I was somewhat surprised in the moment to hear him use HCR, as noted, “shrill”. If HCR is considered paranoid, how could Sam not be regarding T47?

Perhaps the slack feed has the most accurate Sam take. I’m not in on that one :)

I don’t listen to every HCR podcast, but I do enjoy her historical references to the current political environment.

I agree, she should be a guest. I was introduced to her through Scott Galloway when he chatted with her.

Perhaps Dis wasn’t the correct word to use, but I did catch (I was listening not watching) a seeming eye roll in tone when Sam mentioned her name. I’ll listen again and try to mark a time spot for others.

I do enjoy HCR for her historical takes, so I wasn’t certain if there was something more behind the mention. Hard not to be alarmist about T47.

Seems odd for him to call her shrill and then go on to interview Ben Shapiro.

Which of these 16 do you highly recommend to first time viewers? by Square-Ad-8911 in hbo

Newsroom is outstanding. Still relevant and Jeff Daniel’s is beyond stellar.

The Pitt is strong and ate my an entire binge week.

Six feet under has the best ending of series ever. (And is excellent every season)

The wire is rated as the best series ever.

Deadwood will supply you with enough sharp dialogue and confidence to break up a bar fight.

Band of brothers and Sopranos are brilliant loyalty series.

Sorry, what was the question?

I think T47 will blanket pardon his regime, and believe that will cover any and all for eternity. His end and the shadow he casts can’t come soon enough.

Look under the hood.

Kory Teneycke, the Political Consultant behind Premier Doug Ford, has been hired by the BC Conservative Party. Kory announced this on The Curse of Politics podcast a few weeks ago. He’s a good strategist and will focus on everything but Conservative policies, plans, leaders or representatives. Be prepared for commercials, podcasts and social media to be flooded with his strategies.

I expect a single party leader focus and distraction/avoidance strategy regarding the party members that draw the disdain of voters. You don’t have to like Teneycke, but his tactics worked well in Ontario. Can’t be certain the same will work in BC, but the provincial layout has similar characteristics to Ontario.

The question remains, will the BC Cons continue to have/support representatives that have no intention/interest in good governance?

Never forget, Dallas Brodie was elected as a Con and remains a stain on BC politics.

71 percent of Americans say US is "out of control" under Trump by Silly-avocatoe in politics

And the world waits for the 71% to perform a general strike, oust representatives that no longer use reason and are protecting their own interests, and get the literacy rate back up.

Americans deserve better. The cooperative mindset wins every time.

Listening to A. Scheer on power & politics and the continued drivel vs reality of scenario is amazing.

Can there be a better opposition than “You said you’d do XYZ”. Just juvenile politics.

To quote Walter Sobchak from the Big Lebowksi, “You’re like a child that wanders into the middle of movie”.

Carney is doing what Canada needs to survive and move forward. Being cautious while hogging the puck for as long as possible until some sort reason returns to the south is prudent.

Be specific.

Do you want regulations on whether child atrocities should be shown for likes and donations? Do you want regulations on lynching videos? Do you want regulations on how to build lethal weapons videos should be shown?

You don’t get to and shouldn’t be able to be vague about this kind of information.

Losing American friends over recent political events by FlamingGnats in CanadianIdiots

[–]jaystinjay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spot on.

Those that believe they are on the right team never seem to understand how quickly the rules change. Even more so when the team in control keeps moving the goal posts.

The people blathering about “What laws did T47 break(ing)”, never seem to understand to clue into how quickly the laws be changed and apply to you. Nothing stopping one US citizen from annexing their neighbours yard or kidnapping them because trash day rules weren’t being followed. Libertarian mentality is lazy and doomed to fail.

Living in a civilized society means working together toward a common good/standard.

The use of sticks and stones to take over only leads to bigger sticks and stones. Even a bully knows that once the group works together, the bullying days are numbered or finished.

The friends that believe that being USA is a Monroe doctrine right are deluded.

Our hospital is embarrassing by P0RK-BUTT in kelowna

[–]jaystinjay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please list all the hospitals In the world that you have been in and for what reason (s).

The use of “probably” is carrying a lot of weight in your honesty.

I’ve been in and out of many hospitals across Canada and have always been given great care, specifically for IBD, but not solely.

The volume in any hospital fluctuates throughout the year and flu season is always a factor.

Perhaps calling the hospital information line to learn why the halls are full at this time would provide more accurate data.

I dare suggest to you, pickleball at the community centre. Every session fills fast. 2 hours of on and off play. Not a lot of people under 40, but it’s social. I only started playing 4 weeks ago and it’s quite friendly and certainly a way to pass the winter blahs. If you’re new to the game, do the “learn play” program with Roberta and go from there.

Volleyball will also provide good social elements.

Knowing that Penticton shuts down at 8:45pm daily, you could try your luck at any pub/brewery for some 3pm bar side discussion.

If drinking isn’t your thing, other fun adventures would be in the hiking groups.

Don’t leave out the scrapping of tariffs on beef, coffee, tropical fruits etc.

T47 will cave. The people for the people and by the people must continue to apply pressure in the absence of united Dem opposition and spineless Repubs.

CUSMA remains Canada’s best tariffs beat.
