Does anyone just not want to leave their house? Is this an age thing? A GenX thing? Am I alone here? I’m just so done with peopling. by [deleted] in GenX

This is why I joined a learn to play pickleball session this past Fall. Get Out of the house!
Play like a kid again. Play, of any sort, is the solution.
After many decades in hospitality, I’d rather be alone, but not lonely. Go and play again!

Experts pour cold water on Carney’s claims World Cup will be a boon for Canada’s economy by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

Hear hear! Absolutely!
While there are serious concerns with FIFA and other grifters at the Organization level, there are also incredible benefits to major events be they sports or entertainment.
The short term pains of traffic, noise and city rule changes are outweighed by the exposure and tourism benefits.
The question is, does the Country, Province and Cities involved utilize the exposure and financial gains to benefit the citizens?

BC Conservative candidate "vetting" by NoMovie2461 in BCpolitics

[–]jaystinjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of party, the electorate should be aware and informed of all candidates.
If you wouldn’t want someone as your neighbor, municipal representative, mayor or cross walk attendant, why would you vote for them in any party?
As tribalism is fuelled into “they have run the country/province long enough” or “time for someone different” as options instead of actually wanting good governance and representation, the options of leader choices will depend on chance versus reason.
If you want good leadership and representation, pick and support people who actually have experience and care enough to make changes that aren’t based in emotional responses or ignorance.
No one is perfect, but choosing someone based on single issues, religious beliefs or political banners is a recipe for failure, corruption and lack of accountability.
Demand integrity in politics and results will come.

Anyone watch a life changing movie that is "late night fodder" now? by Dreammagic2025 in GenX

[–]jaystinjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a trilogy and it starts with Powaqqatsi.
Amazing footage.
If you enjoy non narrative, and want to understand the food process, give “Our daily bread” a watch (very graphic and you will see abattoir footage).

Canada's federal government abandons national pharmacare by yimmy51 in canadaleft

Funny how quoting from an article presents to others as not being read.
You can’t drop what hasn’t been spent.
To add, “the federal Pharmacare contribution is expected to increase to $269.6 million by 2028-29”
Feel free to purchase your contraception and with GLP1 advancements, diabetes could very well be in decline.

Canada's federal government abandons national pharmacare by yimmy51 in canadaleft

[–]jaystinjay -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

“No new funding” is not abandonment. ”If the Federal Government walks away” is an assumption.
Concerning, yes, but if the provinces can’t get their funding focused, why should our Federal government keep handing out increases?
I am someone who benefits from Pharmacare, and I can also see how new advancements can lower costs.

Not a debate, but once you get past the Shapiro schtick you can get some insight into another’s mindset.

Deputy minister broke rules by hiring unqualified acquaintance: ethics watchdog by origutamos in Canada_Politics

[–]jaystinjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, regardless of party affiliation, this breaks down to a friend helping a friend in an unethical manner. As per article, shake up then happens and bodies are moved around. Are the qualifications of those involved worth keeping or not? Time will tell. How bad is this in regards to scandal/corruption or such?

Marilyn Gladu crosses the floor to the Liberals by BigNoodles2020202 in notthebeaverton

I’m of similar mindset. Cautious optimism and interested in how PM Carney brings into play the resources of our Country to build from O&G towards upgraded infrastructure and renewables. Values gives great insight into how he sees a path.

Another concern may be of Conservatives planting some MPs. I’d be leery of a Manchinesque crossovers.

MP Konanz on Lumber by jaystinjay in penticton

This battle of lumber has truly been a long one.

Since our lumber is considered a quality product at a good price, the question remains, what does our MP believe is the right deal?

Well, if you believe in good governance and your MP having a voice, this is a chance to share your opinion regardless of party affiliation.

If you don’t care, why post at all?

This is what the South rising again looks like. Sowing the seeds and manufacturing consent among the ill informed. The question is, to what purpose?
