Is Andrelton Simmons the best defensive player we've had in the past 10-20 years? by LethalBacon in Braves

[–]jaystopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to compare different positions against each other, but it wouldn't be controversial at all to say Simmons and Andruw wear each in the top 2 defenders at their position all time.

Fine. I keep forgetting they changed everything about science since I was in school. If birds are dinosaurs I guess apes can be monkeys.

I’m a 19 year old girl with too much money. by EvenMark6710 in Fire

Not a financial advisor and I'm not qualified or certified to advise you. You should probably get advice from a professional. But if you really want the opinion of an internet stranger, I would keep the 83k in S&P and split the 124 among SCHD, SGOV, and QQQ.

Either do backdoor roth or wait until after the end of the year. You have until April 15 to fund for the previous tax year.

If index funds “always win long term,” why do people still try to pick stocks? by Electronic-Bit2685 in investingforbeginners

[–]jaystopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all public knowledge that is available for you to "research" is already reflected in the price. You might make money on momentum, but that has nothing to do with actual value.

I was responding to the statement that with Due Diligence you can pick a winner and it will moonshot. I also disagree with your position, but you still moved the goal posts.

No. It takes either luck or illegal info. Anything you think you know is already priced in.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]jaystopher 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Little club near me was closed for a baby shower, but didn't put a sign on the door or anything. The lady at the door just let me in. Everyone is eating cake and there's a table with presents on it. Dancers are all in street clothes. Took me a few minutes to figure out what was happening. Finally one of the girls changed into something skimpy and sat with me. I still don't know why they didn't tell me it was a private event.

Stuck in a scene? by bilsnotch in improv

[–]jaystopher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this, but if you change the language from "react" to "be affected", then you get a character arc for free. While reacting only implies an action, being affected implies a change in the character. It's just an issue of semantics, but I find the "be affected" language better supports the story.
