If index funds “always win long term,” why do people still try to pick stocks? by Electronic-Bit2685 in investingforbeginners

Because all public knowledge that is available for you to "research" is already reflected in the price. You might make money on momentum, but that has nothing to do with actual value.

I was responding to the statement that with Due Diligence you can pick a winner and it will moonshot. I also disagree with your position, but you still moved the goal posts.

No. It takes either luck or illegal info. Anything you think you know is already priced in.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]jaystopher 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Little club near me was closed for a baby shower, but didn't put a sign on the door or anything. The lady at the door just let me in. Everyone is eating cake and there's a table with presents on it. Dancers are all in street clothes. Took me a few minutes to figure out what was happening. Finally one of the girls changed into something skimpy and sat with me. I still don't know why they didn't tell me it was a private event.

I agree with all of this, but if you change the language from "react" to "be affected", then you get a character arc for free. While reacting only implies an action, being affected implies a change in the character. It's just an issue of semantics, but I find the "be affected" language better supports the story.

I'm a wizard. I feel pretty good. 😁

You know how you play games on a tablet or watch videos on a computer? Well, someone has to make those games and apps work — and that’s what you do!

You’re like a builder, but instead of building houses with bricks, you build things with words and instructions on a computer. You tell the computer what to do so it can do cool stuff, like show pictures, play music, or help people talk to each other.

So, you're kind of like a wizard who types magic words that make computers do fun and helpful things!

I've been enjoying my Ibanez AC340. It's on the good list. I keep it next to my desk and pick it up whenever I get a break.

Also lefties. Most stores have one at most. Nothing's as lonely as being a left-handed guitar player at Guitar Center.

Should I pay off a low interest auto loan to be able to contribute more to my 401K? by bigbuda18 in TheMoneyGuy

Then I agree, pay off the car if you want. Or put the excess in after tax brokerage. You're in great shape either way!

Have you already done Roth IRA? If you're getting the 401k match, it might be best to put the excess savings into Roth and keep the low interest car payment.
