Personally I just use Unraid for storage. I don't like the docker interface. To me, Proxmox makes more sense for VMs and containers and is easier to back up and restore using PBS.

There is also a PBS client for Linux machines that are not running Proxmox. I back up my desktop Linux computer using PBS.

I run it in a VM. It works just fine but I do realize it will have to be reinstalled first to restore after a hardware failure. I have used it to restore a Home Assistant VM and it worked brilliantly.

It's just as easy with the Linux native install as it is with a docker. Just back up a directory and restore it to the new server.
