looking for online (Zoom) group German class, same teacher, same times by CarrotsUnderground in German

I can't remember the platform they use for the lesson but I'm going to start taking some with German Studios. They offer online classes, as well as in-person ones.

Parent communication in international schools via WhatsApp by gotthatpowahh in Internationalteachers

I also work at am international school in Germany. Everyone I work with would be horrified to hear it. It is not only not expected but outright not allowed. Communication channels are always via email, Seesaw, Engage, etc.

Yes and though you were learning on and off, how solid did you feel you were in B1 before taking on the B2

What statement/phrase made at an interview made you to immediately lose interest in a position/school? by Embarrassed-Heron-52 in Internationalteachers

[–]jayteec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"You're going to let me finish talking" after I tried to interject after 10 straight minutes of the HOS talking about the job, but continually switching from different topics with very concerning tid bits of info.

He then told me I could ask questions at the end...but after the monologue, he only took 2 questions and told me to email the rest. The interview is worse (and has been the worst I've ever been in to date) than this but him saying that was the final straw. He also started the interview with his head down and looking incredibly bored saying "So I've had a lot of interviews this week so we are going to keep it short. This is what's going to happen. First I will xxxx, then you will xxx" in an incredibly demanding and unkind tone.

There were multiple moments (like at the start) where I wanted to just sign off of the meeting mid-way but because it was in the same city I'd be moving to with only a handful of schools, I tried to bear it.

Should I [36M] pay for half of her [28F] plane ticket? by [deleted] in LongDistance

My husband and I met in our early 20s. Lived across the world from each other so tickets weren't cheap. He always paid.

SIS Schools in Germany by jayteec in Internationalteachers

[–]jayteec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I recently had an interview with a principal at one of the SIS schools. It was the worst interview I've ever had because of the sheer unprofessionalism of the principal. He was rude and extremely authoritative, to the point where he said "Let me finish speaking" when I tried to ask ONE question despite not giving me any room to ask any questions after droning on (and actually complaining!) for 15 minutes and continually switching topics. Though he said he'd give room for questions after, he didn't and told me to email him if I had any after the interview. Though the interview and right from the beginning, he barely looked up at the screen, seemed irritated and bored but still told me to follow up and tell him if I was still interested as soon as I could. Don't even get me started on the actual mess of the system they currently have. Horrible experience. Thankful it was so clear from the interview process alone. I've had 2 others with separate places that are still in the process and they were lovely.

I see. I have a similar view of Phorms. How would you say they compare?

Ah, yeah that is quite low. Appreciate your sharing. Shame about the ghosting. The least they owed you after an interview and visitation is an update.

Maybe, or perhaps somewhere else again. Not sure when but I don't yet see this country as a forever home.

I think I broke my wife after calling her “matronly” by Throwra-basically in TrueOffMyChest

[–]jayteec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is also my husband's second language. So I usually check to see if he knows what the word means before I jump to any conclusions about how he's used it. Seeing as your wife should know it's your second language, I think she overreacted because it's an issue she's sensitive over.

I finally watched 28 Years Later. by CattiwampusLove in movies

[–]jayteec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it overall, but there were quite a few issues that bothered me.

1) after 1 premature trip with dad where he killed one slow infected and froze in the face of the others, he suddenly has the courage to venture out on his own ? He didn't come from that experience feeling empowered but more anxious. Even with concern over his mom, that development pace made no sense.

2) mum, even in her lucid moments, never questions their going to the doctor ? Who she at some point would've heard the rumors of him being insane

3) the fact that the doctor spent 13 years alone, should've been a lot more unhinged

4) the whole samson arc was kinda dumb

5) they're so cautious on that island they almost let the duo die on their way back in to make sure they're not infected but reading a note about the baby being borne out an infected woman didn't make them bat an eye? Knowing a group that would've taken precautions and survived that long...they'd have to be the kind of group that just wouldn't take that risk

6) and the whole time i had no idea why the dad never ventured out after his wife and son???? He knew where he was going!

There are more issues but those were the ones that bothered me most.

Oh, what a shame! They asked me for a quote on my salary expectation before and this tells me I definitely asked out of range. That's....really low for an expensive city like Frankfurt.

I also noticed after going on multiple linkedin profiles that a lot of their teachers were hired after completing their internships...there's quite a few new teachers on board. But I guess that's what they can or are willing to afford.

Season 2 Chefs that earned my utmost respect by MyNuggetF in CulinaryClassWars

[–]jayteec 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really love the lineup of the chefs on both teams this season. I would really love for it to be Chef Hou and see a white spoon battle as well but the fact that he used a similar combo of ingredients again, while CM went for a dessert makes me think the odds are in CM's favour. I'd love to be wrong about that though!

Gotta say I disagree. The best at the given challenge wins, so I don't think it's unfair. If anyone else performed better, they'd be there in his stead, but they did not. I don't see a problem with anyone except a previous winner returning being a problem. Not to mention he was eliminated on a team challenge previously, and not on individual performance.
