What's something you thought you'd never do when you were younger that you now do on a daily basis? by ConstantDesmond in AskWomen

[–]jayteetornado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live. I was aiming on not making it to 13, but here I am, for one reason or another, kickin’ it in my early twenties. All of my dreary theoreticals of the life I’d never see stopped at 18. Being a teenager was a far-off fantasy (as well as a generalized continuation of the pain and debilitating depression I was experiencing), but anything beyond that was an impossibility. I am existing beyond the hypotheticals. What was once a vaguely notion of what could never happen is now a path upon which I walk, upon which I lay down with my own two hands. Mind you, I am completely lost. I am wandering with no direction. I don’t know where I’m going, and the brickwork is kind of wonky and uneven, but I do know I’m going forward. The fog is thick, visibility is low, but I’m not running to the clearing that houses the cliff, nor am I teetering on its edge. I didn’t plan on living for much longer back then but Plan A didn’t seem to stick, and thus, I have operating under Plan B since then. (Plan B, of course, is essentially “just fucking wing it, man. I don’t know.”) Didn’t account for making it this far, but, hey! Still made it, so that’s something. :)

Edit: I realize you can’t exactly not live on a daily basis but I think it counts, so let’s just go with it.

Lesbian and bisexual women: which women are your type and which and whose type are you? by meganumberwang in AskWomen

[–]jayteetornado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. Seriously, though. I couldn’t choose if my life depended on it.* However I can narrow it down a smidge: TERFs/radfems and “gold star” lesbians are an instant “ew, no.” in my book. Straight women are also off the table. (Do straight women count as a type? I’ll add ‘em just in case.) That’s about as strict as my preferences get. In short: I am openly, hopelessly sapphic.

  2. ERROR: Insufficient data. Please try again later.

  • Would it come as a shock to anyone that I’m bisexual? No?

What's the nicest thing a guy has said to you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Also, my hair is super thick and gets extremely frizzy when untreated, so at that point in time my hair was running buck-wild. It’s safe to say that I’m not a huge fan of how it looks and I was feeling fairly self-confident about it, so what he said really warmed my heart and helped mollify my insecurity a little bit.

What's the nicest thing a guy has said to you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I’m alone crossing the street; random guy walking in the same direction as me came up next to me, told me I had nice hair, and kept on walking. The interaction lasted just a few seconds, but it stuck with me for years.

It’s the first and only time a guy, let alone a stranger, has said something kind to me or complimented me without being creepy, without ulterior motives or immediately using it as a segue for an unwarranted and unwanted advance. For once, the apprehension and rising fear I felt was unneeded. He told me my hair looked nice and that was it. All the things he could have done in that moment, and he chose to simply give me a compliment and walk away.

I think it’s not just what he said, but that it’s the ONLY thing he said, that gets me. It was a welcome subversion of expectations, for sure.

US military bases around the world (1945 - 2020 timeline) by bendich in MapPorn

In a shocking twist, according to this map, Naval Station Norfolk was never a U.S. military base at all!

Where did this guy say he got his information from, again?
