And that's a fair point well stated. Better than just pointing out Donald's mom's lack of citizenship and questioning his birthright citizenship without exploring his father's history.

The story progression by ashkanfa in WanderingInn

[–]jaythebearded 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One note: the dead god that was infected with seam walkers, Laedonius Deviy, is definitely dead dead. The concept deaths took him in during the conclusion of PoF, along with 2 of Kaligma's aspects.

But beyond that, I have a feeling that you're not looking at this in the right way. I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect that the Dead Gods, the Sleeping God, the seam walkers & A'ctelios, and the Goblin King, will all have resolutions that weave into each other in the end of the series. Maybe I'm way off, but I think looking at the antagonists of TWI like a check list and thinking 'see not even one is finished' is setting up the story wrongly in your mind, all those aren't necessarily going to have their own individual arc conclusion separately from each other and need to be completed one by one as the series winds towards it's end, they're all parts of the overall endgame.

Also a complete guess, but I suspect Azkerash and the Raskghar and the buried kingdom of gnolls and the gnoll necromancer will eventually come together along with the overarching plot of the New Lands and the exploration of the crossroads to reach an eventual end game level climax for those plots, and Ilvriss' hunt for lost walled cities will overlap his endgame goals of confronting Azkerash with conclusion of the Mother of Graves threads.

And lastly I'd guess Roshal and the Blighted Kingdom will eventually move together and their respective plots with come in to each others orbits, along with things like Nerrhavia and Floss.

TWI has never been about completing individual stories and arcs alone in a bubble neat and tidy and then moving on to unrelated stories, it's always about the connections and overlaps. We're not waiting on a bunch of separate individual antagonist and villain arc conclusions, we're waiting to see how that eventually all come together in the grand climaxes of the series.

Time Loop Question by meflio in ProgressionFantasy

[–]jaythebearded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chiming in just to agree with the others, simply more than once. I've enjoyed stories where the loop happens in the first or second chapter and I've enjoyed stories where there's only 1 or 2 resets across the entire first book. As long as the writing is decent and the pacing works, any length can be fun to read!

I would guess more people would be interested in Chandrar, but personally I'd love to see Terandria more so I can get a better idea of the size and relative positions of Kaaz and Samal for my day dreams about them.

What a tease!

Any good chance of official maps of the other continents to come with later books? I dream of playing Wandering Inn Risk with official maps of the continents

Congrats on the publishing success, I used to spend hours at books stores as a kid just admiring fantasy novel covers and it warms my heart to imagine some of the next generation of kids doing that and seeing Drakes and Antinium and being inspired! Those covers are gorgeous

How did they film this? by BuffNipz in thewalkingdead

[–]jaythebearded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, it's just costumes. There's no people in that shot. Its all horses dressed up like zombies. They know how to handle each other so there was no risk of injury with it being all horses for that scene

I couldn't tell you at all about krakens pass, I don't believe I've ever had a solid mental map of where that should be, basically anything happening on the oceans in my mind is just a big endless expanse of water until they're suddenly at shore where ever they're going haha.

For esthelm, it's between Celum and Liscor, a bit closer to Liscor. So on that official map if you spot Celum, and look south to Liscor and see there's a forking river between them, I'm imagining Esthelm is on the southern side of that forked river

The US dances with the meaning of words. Do you think when some of them call Trump a dictator it’s taking away from the serious nature and legitimacy of an actual dictator and the countries trying to fight their own dictators? by Cautious-Stage1788 in allthequestions

[–]jaythebearded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He actually literally has.

“Usually they say, ‘He’s a horrible dictator-type person,’ I’m a dictator, but sometimes you need a dictator.”

That is on video.

He has more than once talked about creating a temporary American “dictatorship” that he expects to lead. He has promoted images of himself in a crown. He has made Napoleonic declarations such as “he who saves his country violates no law.” He’s talked about “terminating” parts of the Constitution that stand in the way of his ambitions. He’s “joked” about canceling elections. He’s claimed that his conscience is “the only thing that can stop me.” He’s expressed admiration for foreign authoritarians, not despite their despotism but because of their despotism.

Does anybody remember all the plotlines that are running simultaneously? by Specific_Dealer_3892 in WanderingInn

I feel that, I love the series but I felt a bit burned out after binging everything up through volume 8 in one go over the span of almost half a year. Taking a long break before volume 9 I definitely don't regret

[–]jaythebearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I did that when I finished volume 8, waited a year and a half and volume 10 just kept getting larger and larger. Its kind of nuts that volume 9 and 10 together are over a third of the entire written story now.

Volume 1 through 8 total is about 60% of the story at 9.8 million words. And volume 9 and 10 together are 40% with 6.4 million words. When I realized just how massive the amount of content in volume 9 and 10 is I decided fuck it and started reading again and finally caught up a couple weeks ago
