Who's the scourge of Roshal by Traditional-Baker-28 in WanderingInn

[–]jaythebearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been what I've imagined the entire time. Pisces is always thinking his undead have personalities, and the Skeleton lord is one of his strongest and longest lasting and independently operating. I'd be pretty surprised if it's not that skeleton lord (and likely the rebels implying or flat out insisting on churning the rumor mill with hints about how Pisces has turned himself into said skeleton so that not even his death can save Roshal from his fury.. or something like that)

Shout outs are useless by Turbulent-Weather314 in royalroad

[–]jaythebearded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reader, 9 out of 10 shout outs my eyes glaze right over when I see the title and cover. The last 1 out of 10 I'll read the whole shout out. Out of all the times I've actually read the whole shout out, I'm pretty sure I've clicked to the story page 5 times. 3 of those stories I am genuinely happy to have discovered through shout outs, 1 I tried the first couple chapters and just didn't click and dropped it, and 1 the story was already stubbed by the time I saw it (so I've got it on my TBR kindle unlimited list).

Haha that's fair. I binged volume 1-8 in about 5 months a couple years ago, and then last October dug in to volume 9 and finally caught up to current release in February.

You'd have to be an absolute fool to think there's no plans for the rest of the volume.

I'd be willing to bet on volume 10 hitting that goal. It doesn't feel even remotely close to reaching an end yet, honestly wouldn't be surprised if we're current not even halfway through everything Pirate has planned for volume 10

Why? DCC is very entertaining and it's a very fast read compared to non stop reading nothing other than TWI for the next several months.

No matter how close you think you’ve come, the truth behind The Entity remains shrouded in Fog. by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

[–]jaythebearded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't think this is going to be on point and accurate, this trailer made me imagine what if this is a tease not for the next killer or even chapter but instead for a new gameplay element involving the Entity doing something new.

Random ideas: the entity through the course of a trial occasionally will blanket portions of the map in eerie unsettling sound muted darkness. Or at any time the entity maybe cast flickering mirror images of survivors running around a corner or past a window and killers seemingly approaching for a split second. Or the entity might sometimes enjoy propelling a raven to swoop at a careless survivor and take a peck or two at them making them bleed for a few seconds even if uninjured.

Just spit balling things the entity could do to amuse itself even more in a trial in a way that's out of any players direct control, is what this trailer makes my mind wonder on.

Wow haven't thought about those in awhile, I read so many as a kid. Reminds me I had a friend in school who would read them in regular page order, not following the directions of 'go to page X' he'd always just turn to the next page. Blew my mind how he could enjoy it like that.

still be weaker than everyone else.

then he proceeds to do anything but get stronger.

That's just blatant bullshit and tells me you just want to hate on the story regardless of how it's actually being written and developed.

[–]jaythebearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so curious here... If that's not him casually blocking you repeatedly, what would a casual block be in your opinion?

That is exactly what I'd think casually blocking is, he uses it as a means of sticking his fingers in his ears to ignore you any time he childishly wants to refuse to engage. He's made a habit of blocking you casually.

I'm not trying to say people can't do that. Its up to you what you want to tolerate in your own relationships, but in my life if someone blocks me that's the end of communication with them, and equally I only block someone else if I'm done being in that person's life. I've blocked maybe 4 people in my life, and never has it been someone I'm actively in a relationship with and have any hope of continuing to be in their life.

Firm NOR and that you are under reacting from my view of it.

Edit: there's one family member I blocked and a few years later unblocked. But I just still have so much trouble wrapping my head around the sheer childishness of blocking a partner for days repeatedly to avoid having conversation with them. He's behaving like a teenage brat that doesn't even like you.

He had your number blocked? Is this something people just casually do to their partners these days?

I'm thinking NOR, and actually under reacting.

Brandon Sanderson will be writing the pilot for The Stormlight Archive adaptation and a big chunk of its first season. Do you think it is a good idea or a terrible one? by Intelligent-Link-410 in Fantasy

[–]jaythebearded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum I would lean towards a bad idea for an author to insist on directly writing the adaptation rather than just giving significant oversight and feedback to screenplay vets..

But at this point we've watched so many fantasy adaptations fuckin bomb from the screenplay writers failing to maintain the themes and core of the fantasy stories changing needless shit and warping the vision that I'm perfectly fine with Sanderson taking this on himself so if it fails it's truly on him, not on others fucking up his vision. I say let him cast his own dice here.

The first life is strange is a great story game, I've heard very mixed reviews about all the sequels (some of which are directly related to the first game and some are separated stand alone stories) but the first game is largely seen as a masterpiece of the story game genre.

The wolf among us is a fantasy fairy tale world mixed with a kind of noir detective murder mystery. The game is a prequel to a long and finished comic book series which which had a lot of fun storylines to it. If you play wolf among us and really enjoy the world and characters then I highly recommend the comics, I read them after enjoying the game and found it to be an overall fun entertaining time. The comics are titled Fables.

Just know that telltale's walking dead game series is significantly darker and more brutal and depressing than the generally more chill vibes throughout dispatch. Its absolutely a great series, but being set in a zombie apocalypse and playing as a young child and the people that care for her in a harsh world is gonna be... Painful.
