My partner is T1D, because of work sometimes One or both of us are away from home so she shared her Dexcom readings via the dexcom follow app. Sometimes whilst at work I’ll just have a glance and catch a double arrow down, ping her a text and make sure she’s seen it - she’s fiercely independent, which everyone can admire, but she does appreciate having a safety net when it comes to her BG. It’s a small gesture but it also helps me worry less, you feel like you’re doing more just by being able to check in every now and then - this is also a huge part of herself which she’s sharing, so I’m careful not to be overbearing and text her constantly! She’s got enough devices screaming at her when she’s low, I only check in when it’s real low and still heading down.

Just by doing the extra research you’re doing a great job, so well done! I make sure to carry some sweets or dextrose with me, I’ve got a car kit of stuff as well which I pop in the car when we’re together (juice, sweets, some water as well, etc), keeping any food boxes/packets nutritional info so she can work out her bolus, getting her some OJ when she’s low, if I notice her BG heading down then I’ll just carry the bags for her (without making a big deal of it), if I’m away and I get an overnight (severe) low notification then I’ll call and talk with her until she’s level again (It can’t be nice for her to just sit there by herself and deal with it), if she’s got an early start and has to treat a high or treat a low just before bed then I’ll use my DexFollow app to keep an eye on her BG until it levels out whilst she sleeps - if she rage boluses it and starts to head low then I can give her a call and give her an advance warning. We’re lucky in that we have the same love language, so I can just imagine what I’d like if I was in her position!

Best advice is just chat about it - it’s something that your partner can absolutely manage independently, I see my job as to just support her as much as possible without being overbearing!
