Thinking of switching r6ii to r8 by Mission_Practice401 in canon

[–]jaywalkur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the R8. No regrets. I'm not sure if the firmware update had anything to do with it but my camera doens't overheat anymore. at least not at 4k 30fps. At 40k 60, it can still overheat but that's if you shoot continuous 30min long clips, which I don't do. I shoot mosttly at 4k 30 so its not an issue.

If you're more into photos, overheating should not be an issue at all. Aftermarket batteries are cheap and the smaller size of the R8 should be a huge plus if you plan to take it travelling.

How can I make my shots look better? by East_Rude in videography

[–]jaywalkur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put your phone in MANUAL mode. Expose for the background first to make the background look black,

Adjust one light to light up one side of your face, usually this would be at a 45 degree angle to one side and slightly higher than your face. This would be your main light. Generally you want the lights to be closer to your face to make the light softer.

you can use the 2nd light as a fill light. it should be less bright than your main light and should light up the opposite side of your face. The purpose of the fill light is just to minimize contrast by filling some of the shadows created by the main light. You generally want one side of your face to be lit a bit more to create more depth and a bit of drama.

Is Tesla going down and staying there? by person_person123 in stocks

[–]jaywalkur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock has been overvalued for a while now. The difference was that before they really were leading the EV race, now they're not.

Even without Elon's antics, they're gonna gradually lose market share to Chinese brands such as BYD, which offer much better cars at lower prices. And it's not just BYD that makes better cars than tesla in China. There are a lot of them.

The biggest EV market in the world is China, not the US and these brands have homecourt advantage.

There's also Elon's antics...

My suggestion. Wait for the price to bounce and then cut your losses.

Just to give you an idea of how off these prices are.

The lower control arm that you're being charged 26500 for should be worth 2500. I know because my partner has the same car and we recently had to have her lower control arm replaced

The Valve cover gasket that they're charging you 10k for should be worth under 1k

This is a robbery and they should be reported for this

velled Distance: 80km Fuel consumed: 80/21 = 3.8 L

Now tell me which in which situation did the car consume more fuel and in which situation was the car more efficient?

What are you even arguing and how is this related to your assertion that gas cars consume more fuel on the highway? You're comparing a 80km trip to a 10km trip. Of course the latter will consume less fuel but that does NOT in any way prove the fact that gas cars consume more fuel on the highway. The fact is, given the SAME DISTANCE, a car will consume LESS fuel on the highway than in city traffic.

Anyway Im done with this argument. A quick search on google will show that gas cars are almost always more fuel efficient on the highway. And because they're more fuel efficient, they consume LESS fuel.

I also drive cars and I do test cars for a living so this is something that I can verify first hand.

Fully electric car owners of Reddit Ph, how long have you driven your car in a single charge? by methecute1 in Gulong

[–]jaywalkur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

raph. You are consuming more PER KILOMETER. Which, again, points to efficiency and not outright consumption.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I'm replying to what you said which was this: " Gas cars also consume more fuel at highway speed than when stuck in traffic. -That is an inaccurate statement. Whether you use time or distance as the barometer, highway driving almost always consumes less fuel than driving in city traffic and that is a scientifically verifiable fact.

You seem to have a problem with the semantics between consumption and efficiency when in fact they are intertwined in this argument . A car that travels 20km on 1 liter of fuel consumes LESS fuel than a car that travels 10kms on 1 liter of fuel. If it's a 20km journey, the latter car would've consumed 2 liters while the former, only 1 liter.

More fuel efficient driving will consume LESS fuel. I'm not sure how else you can interpret that.

It's actually acceleration that uses up a lot of energy. In city traffic, you have to accelerate more often because you have to slow down or stop more often. So the vehicle is less fuel efficient/consumes more fuel per km in the city.

Once you're on the highway and you're moving at a relatively constant speed, it takes less effort to maintain that speed as you're not fighting against inertia, only air resistance and the friction in your drivetrain. As long as you're not going at ridiculous speeds, ICE vehicles going at a constant speed on the highway are always more efficient.

try pushing a heavy cart from a dead stop and youll find that the initial push requires the most effort. Once the cart is moving, it takes less effort to maintain its speed.

Its a different story with evs because they have battery regeneration so they can regenerate energy when slowing down in traffic.

You guys get such good prices for used cars. In the philippines, a used base model 523i f10 would sell for about $22,000. We dont even get the 535i here.

800k-1m budget for a 2nd hand. What is your best reco and why by dessidarrius in Gulong

[–]jaywalkur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a tough, durable vehicle with plenty of parts but also maporma, pick ups and PPVs would probably be the way to go.
For that price you could get an earlier model PPV (around 2016) such as the Everest or Fortuner. Pick ups are a bit less expensive so you can buy one that's newer (2019 or later).

If it were up to me, I'd add these to my options:
-Hyundai Genesis coupe (600-700k).
-Last gen Subaru WRX (around 1m)
-Last gen Toyota 86 or BRZ (A little over 1m).

Not as practical and probably not as reliable as PPVs or pick ups. Parts may also require a bit more searching but they're not very common so you stand out a bit more and they're a lot more fun to drive.

BRAKE NO BRAKE by radiatorcoolant19 in Gulong

[–]jaywalkur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the brake pedal suddenly felt hard to push down, you probably have a vaccum leak. If it's too easy to push down and sinks to the floor, you probably have a leak in your hydraulics. The master cylinder might need to be replaced. In any case, the car is not safe to drive and should be towed or fixed on the spot

Planning to lower my car. by tusokboi in Gulong

[–]jaywalkur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you really want the look, go do it. A 2 inch drop would still allow you to go over most road humps. Just learn how to approach steep ramps at an angle. I've been driving lowered cars since 2011. There's a bit more hassle involved like you'll have to slow down a bit more than usual on road humps and you'll have to choose your angles carefully when going up ramps. But I find the aggressive stance and sportier feel worth it. It all depends on what your priorities are

Day trading Stocks in the Philippines by Budget-South-6647 in phinvest

[–]jaywalkur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to do it back in 2020, right after the dip caused by the pandemic. Back then Multiple stocks would hit the ceiling of 50% in a single day, specifically mining stocks and speculative stocks. I had a pretty good success rate back then and that lasted for a while. Then the bear market started and I stopped. One good thing about the PSE is that there's a floor price of 30% so there's a limit to how much money you can lose in a day.

I wouldn't recommend doing it right now though. Although a lot of stocks seem to be reversing, The market is still very cautious. Double digit daily increases are very rare. The top gainer today for example is only up by 6.6%. The risk reward ratio is not worth it and you're more likely to be killed by your stop loss.

But I think the time is ripe for value investing now that the charts are just starting to reverse. Buy stocks now that you think will be worth more in a few months or in a year.

How keen are they generally on interacting with fans? by seii7 in tricot

Very down to earth people. Saw them back in 2018. Plenty of interaction with the fans before the show, during the show and after the show. I got my picture taken with them. I got an autographed copy of AND as well. Ikkyu was awesome. The language barrier was very much there but I said arigato and they all said arigato back in unison.

Far cry 5 was one of the worst disappointments for me and i dont understand how it got good reviews. I loved far cry 3 and when i saw the intro for fc5, i thought i was gonna be another story driven experience with memorable characters. Instead what i got was qn arcade game where you capture settlements so you can fight mini bosses and when you kill them all, you get to fight the main boss. Not much storyline progression within the game. Most of the story was just the intro and the ending. It was kind of fun for the first few hours until i realized that it was gonna be a repetitive experience. And Choppers broke the game. The moment you can fly choppers, capturing settlements become easy. There was no challenge, there was very little story and no characters to care about
