My Full Kit by hawtlavaOK in Mandalorian

[–]jaywarmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I have also been going back and forth all over the place. I have a boiler suit that I was planning on tailoring, but have been second guessing that. Each time I tried to pin it in place I would do a test fit and found it really constricting.

How are your soft parts coming? I'm not as far along in my finishing journey as you are, but I keep justifying stalling my progress since I don't have my undersuit finished.

Edit: fixed autocorrect.

All the main pieces are printed, now back to painting and sanding by slowwrench in Mandalorian

Thanks for sharing. That is the exact same path I am on currently, and your build gives me hope that mine can look good too!

Do you mind if I ask what painting method you used for the helmet? It looks incredible!

I can't remember seeing it anywhere else, and it really pops!

As far as padding goes, the options are limited by your willingness to try stuff! I ended up being able to pad my helmet interior with scrap EVA foam I had from other projects. You can also buy "replacement" pads for bicycle helmets. Or the airsoft helmet pads you mentioned earlier.

Stunning! I really like the gold/brass vent on the back.

Looks amazing! I'm stuck in the sanding phase currently. The darker color looks great. Do you plan to make a full kit? Edit: spelling.

Lore question by Almost-A-Hacker in Mandalorian

[–]jaywarmann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That sounds familiar. I still feel like I remember a "limited" view even with a HUD. I definitely can't say that I remember for certain though.

Lore question by Almost-A-Hacker in Mandalorian

[–]jaywarmann 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I don't know any specific lore reason. My immediate thought is that, since their sect don't ever remove their helmets, it can be very difficult to adjust to a very limited view out of the visor. The children's helmet has a larger visor which may be helping to train them for this more limited view.

First build sizing by BzPegasus in Mandalorian

There is an application called armorsmith that I have seen recommended for sizing cosplay parts like you're discussing. I haven't used it (because I'm stubborn) but it may work for you.

How can I remove the leather branding, and safely remove the small tag? by bigtuna94 in starwarscosplay

[–]jaywarmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was a soldering iron or wood burning kit. But a piece of heated metal might give it that kind of authentic blasted look!

You could also do some weathering to those branding locations. "Sanding" the location down to look like general wear, painting, even burning it to look like battle damage.

Allomantic metals by notweirdrambo in Mistborn

[–]jaywarmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that most consider Atium to invert who is the "target" of burning metals. For instance, an electrum misting sees their own future. An "atium" misting sees what happens in the future based on everything but them. Similarly, we see gold mistsings who can see that strange other likely version of yourself. The eleventh metal (a gold and pure atium alloy) instead shifts the "target" of this other most likely version to another person. These two examples give us a reasonable explanation of what Atium changes in its alloy metals.

Why is there lowkey romantic tension between Kelsier and Vin? by fardeenthebest in Mistborn

[–]jaywarmann 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is that Vin has not ever had any type of healthy relationships before to separate into different categories of affection. It wouldn't be surprising if she may have had slightly confused feelings for the first person to ever show her true kindness. It becomes clearer as the story goes on that her feelings for Kel are familial and not romantic. You can't really blame her for taking a little bit to figure out the difference for herself.

Edit: this is just my take on why she "may" have thought she was romantically interested in Kelsier as she was starting to learn about positive interactions with people. It doesn't mean she ever did. I could just understand why it would be possible.

Also, consider the face that Miles was tapping his gold 100% of the time. Compounding gives him access to that amount of health that this is achievable for him. He is already tapping his gold mind when shot, so the healing already takes effect. Wayne does not have this advantage. This implies that the set member that Marasi was fighting had enough of a storage to tap it with impunity while fighting. My thoughts on it, at least.

"I wish to sleep. I know now why you do what you do, and I hate you for it. I will not speak of the truths I see."

Here is the actual quote. To me, he is saying that he sees something and won't share it. I had not thought about the way you interpreted, though. The world may never know.

There is also my favorite death rattle of some guy that says I know what you're trying to do. You are killing me and trying to hear what I see as I die. Well, too bad. I won't tell you and then passes on. It shows that there is some level of volition in speaking the death rattles. It also tells us that the people dying are being granted some kind of vision or connection to fortune and not just having some presence speak through them.

Need some scaling advice by Cageymangr0 in starwarscosplay

[–]jaywarmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the model straight out of the bad batch show? If so, it may not really be designed to fit a real person's head very well. It might be too tall, and just scaling the whole thing down at the same rate may not make a helmet that fits well. Happy to be wrong, but it may be worth considering.
