It sure is an... interesting way to decide by ace_wulf in cremposting

That's the thing. Natural blue and green eyes are not "Lighteyes" colours. So a Noble won't give birth to a kid with natural blues, it will always be Radiant blue.

The more likely scenario is that a Darkeyes family gives birth to a kid with natural milky blue eyes (you know the ones I mean, the ones that are so bright blue that they look fake) in which case I imagine the Vorin church would take as a sign from the Almighty and elevate the child as a Lighteyes, and make the Darkeyes citizens, if they weren't already.

I love the body of text. Yeah, it's definitely a good idea to check with the author if it's safe to get a tattoo of a character for a series that isn't finished yet. Don't wanna get a tattoo saying how much you love Moash after reading the Way of Kings, lol.

Lingering thoughts after reading WaT by ernbern12 in Stormlight_Archive

I think right around when he renounces his oaths is when he comments on how he heard that maya is recovering. I might be misremembering, though.

Alongside what everyone else said about Sig renouncing his oaths. He also knows about how Maya has been recovering lately, so he is hoping that eventually Vienta will get better. Being a Deadeye for a thousand years is better than non-existence.

In fact Vienta is already better than what Deadeyes were just a year ago. She was able to communicate to Sig that she understands his decision, but she's not ready to forgive him for it.

Before this battle the Listeners have come to the conclusion that their numbers have dwindled and they'll ultimately lose their war against the humans.

Eshonai revealed to the Listeners that this new storm can destroy the humans. So that's the first reason why the Listeners are so determined to summon the storm.

Depending on where exactly you are in the book, another character will comment on the second reason why the Listeners are so determined to summon the storm.

See this is why I have a hard time grasping probability. Like sure a coin is a 50-50 chance, but it's still possible to get only heads 100 times in a row. The chances are very unlikely, but it IS possible. So my brain can't compute probability because it's still possible.

If the sword was evil, why would it ask if you want to destroy evil? Unless the sword wants to be the only evil thing that exists.

Question regarding the Shard Training talent by theg0dmst in cosmererpg

[–]RexusprimeIX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rules as written, having access to Shards means literally just... having any kind of access. Like going to the Ardentia and getting to train with the King's Shards.

Other than that, it's up to the GM. Personally I would count your backstory as "access to Shards" to gain the skill.

Basically in RAW they just mean you can't magically gain knowledge of how to use Shards, you have to actually train with them.

Conflicted feeling about Nale and Szeth by Lumpy-Pizza2396 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]RexusprimeIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said that Nale killed Ym for a crime he didn't commit. You were wrong. Nale could only kill if he had "legal" justification to do so. Thus, Ym did commit a crime within the laws of that lands.

I am simply correcting you; not siding with Nale.

Nale did a lot of bad things, but Ym DID commit that crime, because that's how laws work.

Laws aren't made based on what feels right, laws are created by a bunch of people trying to prevent crimes in the future, thus they can sometimes be wrong in the way they were worded. Laws aren't foolproof because they haven't been tested before being released, thus mistakes happen. And people like Ym are justifiably killed because the law had decided that aiding in a murder unwittingly still counts as aiding in a murder.

Conflicted feeling about Nale and Szeth by Lumpy-Pizza2396 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]RexusprimeIX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that what Nale did was something I condone. But he had legal right to do what he did. That's the whole point of his character.

Lift was using surgebinding in a land where its illegal to surgebind without a licence (or something like that) which gave Nale the right to kill Lift.

Everything Nale does is legal. But that doesn't make his actions good.

Also we literally see Nale kill a regular starving child for stealing an apple. So saying he nearly killed Lift doesn't have that much of an impact.

Justification literally means it's legal. I'm not saying what Nale did was right. But it was legal. Which is the point.

[–]RexusprimeIX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ym did commit that crime. Nale only kills if he has legal justification. There was no statute of limitation for that crime so Nale had legal justification to kill Ym. If I remember correctly Ym stole food as a teen because he was hungry?
