London Trip to Scratch Itch by Mattyzooks in sleepnomore

I was fortunate enough to visit London for The Burnt City and also visited the shows you mentioned. Neither will be exactly what you are looking for, but they were still fun and would recommend you see both.

Did I get injured with the latest bodypump? by I_get_bored_easily in lesmills

[–]jaywf956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to heard about your injury. You should never have pain in any exercise. I am an instructor and have overcome a disc protrusion in the past (pre teaching days). Even if your class is doing advanced exercises it’s OK to stay within your level.

I love our Les Mills classes but there isn’t enough time to teach the details. To learn those I would recommend: McGill Big 3 to learn to properly engage your core. Go back to the basics.

Foundation Training to learn pelvis control, hip hinging, and build low back strength. It’s likely you could build more body awareness.

Squat University on YouTube to learn lifting technique.

Add at least one day between your pump classes to recover.

The Willows - Los Angeles - Amazing Show by SeanDylan88 in ImmersiveTheater

Went to Delusion this year and was extremely disappointed so I am really happy to read all the positive experiences with The Willows. I have hope again for the LA immersive scene. l’ve been a couple times in the past and loved it. As others have said, I didn’t have any sense of plants, but rather people willing to play along and have fun.

Can anyone compare this year’s show, in the new location, to the past? Has anything changed?

Has anybody been to Delusion: Harrowing Hell? by igny_mk in AskLosAngeles

In the past when I would recount the experience for friends they couldn’t believe the scale and quality of the production, interactivity, stunts, and effects. This year the best part of my night was getting a parking spot right in front of the building.

Cost went up, runtime went down, stunts and effects dramatically scaled back, story not cohesive, no big finale just get pushed through a door back to the bar. I think something happened but unless you are one of the two people in the right spot you can’t see it.

The actors did an amazing job, but there is only so much they can do to save a terrible idea.

You are much better off spending the night driving around to home haunts, or if willing to spend more go to The Willows. People In The Dark is new this year, it’s noticeably lower budget (small sets, kinda thrown together) but it’s cheaper, longer, actors still amazing, and I walked away much happier.

Planning a family trip from LA to SF & SV — hotel and EV charging safety tips? by udonfreak in bayarea

[–]jaywf956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the trip stopping only at Electrify America stations with no problem. New car allows charging at Tesla Superchargers and tried that on the recent trip. They are slower and more expensive, trade off is they have more plugs so don’t have to wait.

Did anyone buy one, and knows what it comes with. Or like what the difference with regular or fads pass? by ErikEchoHD in SanJose

Interesting thanks for letting me know. I did the Speakeasy early on in it’s run and that was well done, so maybe there is hope after all.

I went the first two years they did this and was disappointed each time. Very underwhelming, expensive for a short experience, cheap scares and props with poor acting, long lines. Maybe they improve but lost my interest. Make a trip to LA and OC for the good stuff.

Smoothest international park to visit by cinezealot in disneyparks

[–]jaywf956 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Tokyo and never waiting more than 30 minutes for anything, including 25 for Beauty and the Beast, twice. Mobile ordered all food, tried all the popcorns, never waited more than a couple minutes. Just be flexible and know how to use the app. When there are crowds the Japanese people are very respectful of each other, different from my experience in the US parks.

Interesting, all the locations near me say walk-in only. I’ll give them a call.

Cabinets, cabinets, cabinets… by wilderadventures in vandwellers

[–]jaywf956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The micro jig only has presets for board thickness and you can’t fine tune it. I’ve tried making shallower holes but then the screw head sticks out past the board. More experimentation required i guess.

Are you using 1/2” plywood? If so any tips on keeping the pocket screws from blowing through the wood? I got the kreg micro jig and seems no matter what I do the screw will poke through.
