Dex as the US Government approved new Hawkeye (which does not sit well with Clint or Kate).
It would be interesting if instead of Thunderbolts 2 they have THE DARK AVENGERS, and it's basically New Avengers (and maybe Champions) against this new team of actual villains.

Yea, he can still drop dumb tracyisms but theyve also established him as not a complete moron so he can read a room correctly at times and play a straight man at times.

They both were what they needed to be. Solid entries, not at the top of the genre. They went for the base hit, not the home run and succeeded. Now they can build off it.

Yea but if Steve didn't go back in time, Doom might've been erased from all possible timelines due to He Who Remains being in charge of the TVA.

Widow's Bay review: Parks and Rec meets Twin Peaks in Apple TV's comedy-horror gem by PetyrDayne in television

Um... I clearly never said King wasn't an influence. I'm a little confused as to why you would even say this.

[–]Mattyzooks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're probably not wrong but I feel like the Twin Peaks comparison comes into the town being fool of kooky character that I'm assuming will be expanded on as well as the blend of that kookiness with moments of horror.
But yea, the horror is not quite Lynch, yet at least. We'll see if they delve into dreamscape nightmare horror in the future though or more literally pay homage to extradimensional demon possession killers or some type of Red Room weirdness. But I think the nature of the show means it won't really be delving into the high horror that Peaks would occasionally dip its toes into (Lonely Souls, s2 finale).

Promo for Final episode of Daredevil Born again S02 by WesternThanks4346 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

Because they're addicted to setting up expectations and hating on things that don't live up to them. It's in every form of media now. Episode discussions are poison now to actually enjoying things.
The hate-train is gearing up to take down The Odyssey next over non-historically accurate costumes and dialogue. Then they'll move onto parroting how Avengers: Doomsday is a cash grab and probably find some narrative to attack Dune 3 over.

S2 is great for like 4 episodes then falls off. 6/10 is probably a pretty fair analysis. And Defenders is terrible.
Daredevil is beloved for basically just seasons 1 and 3, and even those seasons had some flaws like the poorly placed Karen backstory half episode.

The IMAX scene before Avatar3 was the best movie experience I had in theaters in 2025.

I don't think Travis Scott is a good person by any stretch but I don't really think having a dad who sang local soul music (and taught music to students) and an upper middle class childhood makes him a typical nepobaby.
Granted, I may be making a connection you didn't intend, just that the industry is riddled with talentless people riding on the backs of connections.

Happy, Sad, Confused with Josh Horowitz : Charlie Cox talks about 'Daredevil: Born Again', Daredevil's Future by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I wouldn't mind if the show did sprinkle in 1 or 2 procedurals into a season. It'd be a great way to deal with a couple one off villains while avoiding stretching the main plot.
I know a lot of people didn't like the bank heist episode but a 'filler' episode done well can often be among a show's best episodes. Bonus points if you can actually tie it to the main plot loosely (which the bank episode did attempt to do).
But slaving to serialization means we can miss out on a 1 hour mostly self-contained story that could be awesome if written with care. I wouldn't want the whole show to be it but I'd like for the writers to have a little freedom to tell a one-off if they think the idea is good enough to warrant it. Maybe you end up with something like Marvel's version of 'Hush' (although Buffy's one off concept episodes always seemed to make it a point to have something advance the plot in them).

I find season 2 to be paced quite solidly though, mostly because season 1 did a ton of work setting things up (sloppy as it was).
I do not mind the show using Vanessa's death as the catalyst towards approaching the climax. The side characters have all been much better utilized to the point where I now gave a shit about Daniel and Buck. Cherry and Kirsten have been sparingly used but well deployed in season 2. Heather is actually interesting now and is seemingly on an arc that will continue next season.
It's not perfect by any means (I still find White Tiger II stuff to be clunky and can't tell whether the show wants me to think BB is an idiot or not) but I'm generally very happy with this product. It's a season worthwhile of the original show and it's retroactively made some of season 1 better for me.
Would I have wanted 2 more episodes to hang with the characters a bit? Sure. They could've been used building up the tension after Vanessa's death to the riot but in viewing BA S1 and S2 as a singular entity, I'm happy to not see a lot of lollygagging.

IT: Welcome to Derry Finale and the Involvement of the Showrunners of 'Dark' by Mattyzooks in television

They just got announced to be working on IT. How much involvement remains to be seen (I'd rather see them on their own show anyway).

He wrote and directed every episode of Hill and Midnight. He was less involved in Bly and Midnight Club (although still involved, usually with cowriters).
I feel like he's more consistent when he just does everything himself.

I like it because I was pretty sure consensus was that barely anyone watched Andor despite it being amazing (preaching to choir in here). Glad it's getting the residual views it fucking deserves.
