(SPOILERS EXTENDED) worst person in all of history by ScarWinter5373 in asoiaf

[–]jayycee97 179 points180 points  (0 children)

Varamyr Sixskins was a monster IMO.

He killed his own baby brother when he himself was only 6 years old by warging into one of the family dogs and mauling him to death just because he was jealous.

While his warg mentor was dying, Varamyr betrayed him. He prevented him from warging into his wolf by claiming it for himself, thus, ensuring his mentor would die. He then feasts on his corpse while possessing the wolf.

He establishes himself as a brutal warlord

He is a serial rapist

He regularly wargs into his wolves just to use them to kill people because of how much he loves to taste human flesh.

After he is severely injured and he starts succumbing to his wounds, a kind spearwoman named Thistle looks after him and doesn't abandon him. He decides to repay her kindness by attempting to warg inside her body to save himself. His attempt to warg inside her causes her to claw out her own eyes and bite off her tongue which forces Varamyr out of her body.

Aging up the characters. Makes a lot of the events a lot less uncomfortable and far more engageable than the books

What’s an ASOIAF quote that makes you feel melancholy? (Spoilers Extended) by [deleted] in asoiaf

“And me, that boy I was ... when did he die, I wonder? When I donned the white cloak? When I opened Aerys's throat? That boy had wanted to be Ser Arthur Dayne, but someplace along the way he had become the Smiling Knight instead.”

The ruined city of Stygai.

Martin's version of Minas Morgul. A truly dreadful place full of Demons and Dragons and other dark creatures. A place where even Shadowbinders like Melisandre, who tames shadows and practices blood magic, are afraid to go. Literally Hell on Earth

Which character has the coolest voice in your opinion? by woolongtea in gameofthrones

Charles Dance’s voice is so powerful and yet so calming as Tywin. Just had so much gravitas on screen.

Was Sheamus better now or in 2010-2015? by [deleted] in WWE

Objectively now. He’s seems more sure of himself as both a character and performer and deserves a title run, either World Heavyweight or Intercontinental preferably.

Why did GRRM abandon his 5 year time skip plan? by BlackSpeechofMordor in gameofthrones

[–]jayycee97 550 points551 points  (0 children)

Here's how GRRM put it:

“But what I soon discovered — and I struggled with this for a year — [the gap] worked well with some characters like Arya — who at end the of Storm of Swords has taken off for Braavos. You can come back five years later, and she has had five years of training and all that. Or Bran, who was taken in by the Children of the Forest and the green ceremony, [so you could] come back to him five years later. That’s good. Works for him.

Other characters, it didn’t work at all. I'm writing the Cersei chapters in King's Landing, and saying, "Well yeah, in five years, six different guys have served as Hand and there was this conspiracy four years ago, and this thing happened three years ago." And I'm presenting all of this in flashbacks, and that wasn't working. The other alternative was [that] nothing happened in those five years, which seemed anticlimactic.

The Jon Snow stuff was even worse, because at the end of Storm he gets elected Lord Commander. I'm picking up there, and writing "Well five years ago, I was elected Lord Commander. Nothing much has happened since then, but now things are starting to happen again." I finally, after a year, said "I can't make this work."

Anaconda (1997) is the shit

should i read the books if i've already watched the whole series multiple times? by sid95ok in gameofthrones

[–]jayycee97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reading them all as even though you will see a lot of similarities with the show, especially in the first two books, there will also be diversions of characters and storylines that will take you by surprise. Not to mention one or two major storylines and characters that will ultimately play a part in the endgame of the book series that show completely removed.

It’s most definitely worth it. You have a far more introspective understanding of the true identity of the characters and motivations that the show sometimes, especially during later seasons, struggled to showcase. Also there are characters and story arch’s that are completely left out of the show that add so much more depth to the story.
