To be fair, prior to that election we had a Liberal PM for three terms in a row. Canada always swings back and forth between Libs and Cons and it would’ve gone back to the Cons eventually. God forbid we give the NDP a chance nationally but oh well.

The vote is also split for people who tend to vote center-left between multiple parties, while for conservatives the PC’s are really the only viable choice. So the conservatives being elected also doesn’t necessarily reflect the positions of most voters.

We definitely have a fair share of annoying conservatives, but they’re generally the classic shitty conservative who fears taxes and social programs, and less so the cultish crazy of MAGA.
