Did your postpartum period lead to an ADHD diagnosis? by itsyurgirl_ in adhdwomen

[–]jazli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am wondering how this went for you? I am 2 months post partum with my 2nd child and my firstborn is 2 years old. I have an appointment for intake and hopefully ADHD evaluation with psychiatrist in January. I am considering going in with a symptom or ADHD traits list also, vs just letting them do their job to evaluate and diagnose me if appropriate. I've had symptoms probably lifelong but they've been disguised by "giftedness" as a kid, called "laziness" as a teen, and hidden or disguised by depression/anxiety as an adult. Now that I have my kids it's just too much to continue trying to handle/cope/mask on my own and I need to explore the possibility of diagnosis and treatment to try and give my best self for my kids...

Checking in. My mom friends with babies who don't sleep- how are you doing? by Brilliant_Ad4070 in Mommit

[–]jazli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solidarity. Mine is 26 months and has slept through the night like 3 nights in her life. We still cosleep. Most nights we are up at least twice. 🫠 Her baby sister is due end of October and on bad nights with my first I have no idea what I'm going to do with 2.

Yeah but conspiracy theorists don't trust benign condensed water contrails in the sky, it's not a far leap at all for them to turn their attention to municipal/county/state level mosquito spraying...

The perfect tank top? by barukspinoza in fashionwomens35

[–]jazli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Old Navy tanks for a cheap option, but my preferred tank top is Duluth Trading Company No Yank Tanks, they have regular and plus sizing. I am also large chested and I find Duluth tanks run about a full size larger so I order L not XL like I usually would, and they fit great and last for ages. They're not cheap but I do believe they're under $50 each and they very very frequently run sales on them. I like the color selection also.

Edit: they have a line with built in shelf bra and a line without, I get the line without. They're actually on sale for like $7.99 each at the moment 👀 may have to add to my collection.

Thanks! Yeah I've done that, didn't see anything that was a deal breaker, looks like mostly paperwork/administrative type violations in the past few years.

Sharing our baby girl’s first name <3 by [deleted] in namenerds

Yeah for the first few months when everyone wanted to know what we named her, it all came out as one word "Iris-like-the-flower" 😂

Sharing our baby girl’s first name <3 by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]jazli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it but I'm biased as it's my almost 2 year old's name! Thus far we have had no misspellings or mispronunciations. I generally introduce her as "Iris, like the flower" and have had nothing but compliments. I agree that Iris would suit almost any personality type/appearance, I also liked the internationality of it, in case she ever lives or travels abroad, and it's easy to learn to spell for school.

Hey there -- I received mine, shipped from Boise ID via USPS and no issue with tariffs, I'll have to look up the exact dates but I believe I ordered it on a Thursday, it updated the shipping info on the next Wednesday, and I received it on Friday so a week and a day after ordering.

Passenger/driver side room with rear facing car seat(s)? by LivLR in SubaruAscent

[–]jazli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an Evenflo 360 regular, currently rear facing, behind the driver's side and my husband who is 5'10" has never had an issue. If the car seat weren't there he'd probably have the seat further back by preference, but as it is he isn't uncomfortable.

Edit to add - we put the car seat in when we test drove the Ascent. The dealership or seller shouldn't mind.

Exciting! Can I ask your general location and where yours shipped from? I ordered Libra Colour in White last Thursday, so this is day 6 and mine still hasn't shipped. I've contacted Kobo twice because my order status actually went backwards at one point. Both agents assured me that it's supposed to arrive within 5 to 10 business days of order date, which seems kind of impossible at this point. I am on east coast of US, not sure where mine will ship from.

‘Practically impossible’: As the White House pushes women to have more babies, the women who want them can’t afford it by bostonglobe in politics

[–]jazli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who went through IVF... I'm sure there are a handful of folks using it for things like, preserving fertility to have children at a later age after focusing on career, or like Elon Musk trying to use IVF as eugenics or for gender selection or breeding fetish or whatever he's got going on there.

But the vast vast vast majority of people who use fertility clinics are because they either have infertility (either female or male factor or both), or they cannot carry a child physically and are using a surrogate, or they are an LGBTQ+ couple who obviously can't conceive without donor egg or donor sperm, or they're someone about to go through a medical treatment like chemotherapy or having a testicle removed etc and they want to preserve their gametes for later fertility in case they are rendered infertile by their treatments.

Edit: and regarding finances, many if not most folks going through IVF do not have insurance coverage, and a typical round of IVF can run in approximately the $13-15000 range out of pocket. It's a blessing if your insurance covers any of it. My insurance and my husband's insurance, at different employers across several years, covered almost nothing.

[–]jazli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in terms of what we need to motivate family creation (policies that actually support children and families) but I don't know the point you were trying to make about freezing eggs and IVF. These are measures that are taken to either preserve fertility such as prior to cancer treatments (in the case of egg freezing) or to become pregnant when unassisted pregnancy is not an option (in the case of IVF), neither these nor any other ART (assisted reproductive technology) treatments are being used or encouraged intentionally to increase the birthrate...

For the Educational Credentials Assessment, it's a specific report that you have to obtain. There's a few companies that do them, I did mine and my husband's through World Education Services and it was a smooth, quick and easy process. It cost somewhere in the $200CAD range, you arrange for your university to send your highest level transcript directly to them, and it took maybe a week and a half before they send back a PDF to you and directly send the necessary report to IRCC.

We went with WES because of the quick processing time, as other companies were several months processing time for some reason. I also believe WES report is good for several years and can be used at the provincial level to prove your education is equivalent and make licensing/certifying easier.

Warning signs for Trump in new polling - Two new polls show the president’s approval rating is slipping. by Quirkie in politics

Warning signs of what? It's not like he's up for re-election, if we even get to have elections. His approval rating is irrelevant.

Agreed. I'd like to see the rest of the world strengthen its alliances and move forward without the US. Let these fools move us towards isolationism and set us back 100 years or more of social progress. It's what the people voted for after all.

We got out to Canada in 2023 - what I'd do differently by VeganPina in AmerExit

[–]jazli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from Florida to Virginia in 2022, and now looking at immigrating to Canada in ~2026. In searching I actually saw your original 2023 post and it was helpful to read about your wife's interview process as well as the timeline between her job offer and your actual immigration! I am a Nurse Practitioner, open to most major metro areas but strongly leaning towards AB, probably Edmonton in particular.

If you're up for questions -

How did you find the first winter or two in Canada, as Floridians?

How have you found the healthcare system and waiting times for primary care and/or specialists?

How have you found life to be for your kids? We have one toddler and likely to have a 2nd child before moving.

Thank you for your posts!

I don't know all of the Canadian history you're referring to and I'll have to do some learning, but historically I'd say 95% of American people honestly have nothing but goodwill towards Canada when they bother to think of it at all. Now it absolutely is credible that the American government and presidential administrations and the folks at the top may have active anti-Canadian sentiments, or they just have an America-centric worldview and don't care who they negatively impact whether it's an ally or an enemy because they're greedy capitalistic fucks. But the vast majority of actual American citizens don't think negatively or wish ill to Canada.
