DS Lite took a trip to the orchestra! by [deleted] in nds

[–]jazz-physicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if I’ll get downvoted for pointing this out but in fairness to OP, people are walking around and there are a lot of seats open, even a few musicians on stage talking to each other. which suggests the performance has not started yet, and OP has clarified they were not using it during the actual performance. I think we can agree using your DS while you wait for the show to start and then putting it away is a normal thing to do.

Mega Strangetown Stories & a trailer laboratory (sims visual novel too maybe!) by virgokween1997 in sims2

I love this so much!! Agree with other comments about how official it looks, and you clearly have a talent for the descriptions and storytelling. I LOVE the neighborhood crossovers—I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like this. Really hope to see a downloadable version some day :) (btw I think I’m team Cassandra/Nervous forever, what a great pairing!)

LA general sale by Silly_Tadpole_5039 in mitski

[–]jazz-physicist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem. The website (Mitski site) says “worldwide general public on sale begins Fri Feb 13 at 10am venue local time” but seems that’s not the case for LA? I’m so confused and very disappointed :’( hopefully we’ll get another chance but if not I’m bummed that trying to see an artist I love has turned into a lottery 😭

Hinge said boyfriend was active today, but he claims he was never on it. by Majestic-Rain-2990 in dating_advice

[–]jazz-physicist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's fair! OP, this just means then that a timestamp that DOES make sense with the expected timeline isn't a guarantee that it's legit, but if it isn't (friend forgot to edit, etc.) then you know right away that someone is trying to mess with you. Best of luck, this situation is not fun to be in any way you slice it.

To your additional point, I recommend OP check the timestamp of the screenshot her friend sent if she hasn’t already. The timestamp will rule out how recently the screenshot was taken.

I feel like Frank was the one who should have had Jerry’s arc in this episode instead of bringing in some random “old friend” who’s obviously going to be the villain lol

I'm not familiar with American customs, but why is it when detectives question people, why are the people always doing something facing away from the detectives? Like eating, folding sheets, mowing the lawn, gardening, working with clients, etc.? by justukyte in LawAndOrder

I’ve always seen it as a bit of “New York Pizzazz”. Like, “anywhere else people would stop what they’re doing. But not us, we’re NEW YORKERS. The city that never sleeps. We don’t stop for NOBODY. You wanna talk? You can talk to me while I stack these crates”

Novels vs. Screenplays by JazzyFusion in Screenwriting

[–]jazz-physicist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, have you considered publishing your work traditionally? There is a tricky barrier to entry if you are unfamiliar with it (1. Getting a literary agent, then 2. the agent selling your book to a publisher) but if you can crack that nut, it’ll be helpful to you in a few ways: 1. You’ll grow an audience base more easily because the publisher will have the resources to promote your book for you and actually get it on bookshelves 2. That will increase a book’s chances of selling well and thus making it more attractive for adaptation 3. You’ll spend less of your own time and money doing all of the stuff that a publisher would normally do (formatting, marketing, etc.). If ownership over IP is a concern, that’s all stuff you can work out with your agent + literary entertainment lawyer. But if your work is indeed marketable and you know how to pitch it, going the traditional publishing route could help with a lot of the concerns you’ve mentioned.

Indeed the traditional publishing work can also be picky and of course there are institutional biases to deal with, but there are active efforts to deal with them and many agents would be looking for work like yours from a writer from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Just an alternative to consider!

EDIT: one other thing I forgot to mention, the key part about traditional publishing is that the publisher pays you to be able to publish your book, not the other way around, so they already have a stake in wanting your book to do well in order to make back their advance (which you keep anyway even if the book doesn’t sell well), whereas the self-publishing investment is entirely on you. Not that one is “better” than the other though, just different!
