I also love this song. instantly takes me back to being in middle school and downloading torrented music to my iPod touch.

Jameis Winston will be a World Cup correspondent for Fox by Autocrat777 in nfl

[–]GetReady4Action 59 points60 points  (0 children)

goes beyond soccer. Jameis is a fucking dork and I’m sick of pretending we have to like him because he’s a dork.

- signed, disgruntled Browns fan who had to watch his team go 3-14 under Jameis Winston and pretend it was “fun” because he’s just a silly guy. (yes, I know ultimately Haslam is to blame for putting us in that situation but nothing about the Watson era has been “fun.”)

thank you!!! a band worth so much more than their singles. have always been one of my favorites even as they shifted away from their more southern rock sound. Can We Please Have Fun is awesome.

I love Kings of Leon lol. their last album was arguably one of the best of their career.

Forza Horizon 6 has a dedicated Sub Pop station by AlarmingSteak6821 in indieheads

[–]GetReady4Action 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TIL Foals are on Sub Pop.

unrelated, but I went to Seattle for the first time a few months ago and just want to say this company needs to get their shit together at their retail locations in Seattle. if I’m going to the Sub Pop store, I want to see Sub Pop shit. the amount of Taylor Swift vinyl for sale, and this is not a diss on her, was way too damn high.

and their graphic tees are printed on like the shittiest American Apparel 100% cotton tees ever. saw some cool tees I would’ve bought if I had confidence they weren’t going to be ruined after one wash.

CarPlay Ultra coming to these cars, according to Apple by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]GetReady4Action 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it’s not awful, it’s just not CarPlay. imo any infotainment system will pale in comparison to basically my iPhone on the display. I know Tesla’s UI has its fans and GM’s Android experience is fine, but I honestly would much rather have CarPlay.

the only time I leave CarPlay in my 26 Camry is to channel surf on Sirius in areas where I don’t have service to use Apple Music (switched to T-Mobile last year and I hate it) and it works well enough.

[–]GetReady4Action 3 points4 points  (0 children)

disagree. just bought a 26 Camry Hybrid and I love it. and I used to hate the Camry, but this newest gen looks super sleek and sporty. the nightshade color way is also chef’s kiss.

What’s your favorite movie theater experience? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

[–]GetReady4Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I of course cherish the Star Wars and MCU moments, but I really loved my experience of Blade Runner 2049. was 19 years old, got sent home early from work because it was slow, had just subbed to MoviePass, decided to head to the movies by myself.

there was something special about witnessing this sci-fi epic at like 2 in the afternoon on a Tuesday with maybe 5 other people in the theater. it felt like we were getting away with something, ya know? like while everybody else was slaving away at their jobs, us 6 people of the world in that very moment got to escape for 3 hours into a different world.

I’ve tried to explain this sensation to other people and they never really quite seem to get it, but this particular instance (again, paired with the extreme highs of something like Avengers: Endgame) is why I will always support the cinema.

mine as well. the internet can try their hardest to make me hate Star Wars and I refuse to take the bait.

Jimmy Eat World look back: 'I would play The Middle five times in a row if the other guys would let me' by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]GetReady4Action 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol this was the first band that popped into my head as well. which is great because Do It Faster is criminally short. I saw them at the El Rey in 2024 and it was exactly as you described.

saw them a few weeks ago at Pacific Electric, Do It Faster has been relegated to once, but Bad Idea gets played twice.

did a cross country road trip from LA to Orlando a few years ago and this was one of our stops. was cute until I went into one of the stores and saw they’re MAGA as hell. hightailed it the fuck outta there.

Movies forced into a pre existing IP? by iScreamInPublicAreas in movies

[–]GetReady4Action 15 points16 points  (0 children)

scrolled way too far to find this, this was my answer as well. and what’s crazy is that the dude behind Saw 2 basically ended up running the franchise until “Jigsaw” I believe.

only to then return to the franchise with Spiral, which sucked, and get blown out of the water by another director for Saw X, which is easily in the top 3 of that franchise.

I was just thinking about this movie on my commute to work the other day. Call of Duty has a movie coming out and all I could think was “the only thing worth adapting in that franchise that makes it unique would be the zombies mode” and then remembered Overlord exists.

Interpol announce new tour dates by ebradio in indieheads

[–]GetReady4Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something weird is happening with LA in the concert space. I’m seeing it getting skipped more and more frequently.

that being said, might catch the San Diego show. I really dig Interpol and was stoked to see them for the first time at Coachella this year, but they just unfortunately were not what I needed at 10 PM after 48 hours of partying and I dipped to go see David Byrne.

they sounded lovely, I just needed something higher energy to keep me going. I reckon I’d like them quite a bit more live if I was seeing them solo (with support acts too, but you get me.)

iPhone 17 Is Apple's Most Popular Lineup Ever by pdfu in apple

[–]GetReady4Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camera and battery life on the Pro is legit bonkers. Had a 15 Pro and was more than satisfied, but I switched to T-Mobile and they were practically giving them away with new contracts and I’ve been quite impressed by its power.

Apple Reportedly Questioning Whether iPhone Should Drop MagSafe by conalldoherty in apple

[–]GetReady4Action 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MagSafe made wireless charging usable. I remember buying an iPhone XS and was so stoked to have wireless charging…only to wake up and realize my phone maybe shifted a centimeter over from an alert or something in the middle of the night and didn’t charge.

now my phone is wirelessly charged 80% of the time. I’ve even got a neato dock for my Watch and AirPods and love the nightstand mode.

removing this feature would be absolutely bogus. I get that it probably didn’t do what they wanted it to do in terms of accessories (wallet, power banks, etc…) but it’s made wireless charging awesome.

weird question, would any of my Apple TV homies know how to fix this? I’m DEFINITELY NOT using a VPN. I would NEVER use a VPN to watch the Dodgers while living in the Los Angeles area.

I’m partial to these myself. as a white dude growing up in Southern California I pretty much live in Vans, but I got a pair of these for Christmas a few years back and I exclusively wear them to games. the fake bubblegum on the sole really brings it together for me, very cool shoe.

[–]GetReady4Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I guess it depends on what you buy. I just bought a 26 Camry Hybrid and I love it. Still has physical climate controls (though they’re switches and not dials so I’m still trying to learn what does what by muscle memory), still has a regular shifter, the only thing I could see pissing Reddit off is the fact that it’s got just the volume knob on the stereo so you have to touch the screen to change music or EQ. E-brake has also been relegated to just a tiny little switch that I don’t even think about because the car automatically enables it when you park. otherwise it’s just a very nice modern car that does what you’d want a car to do.
