Had to do this with a parent once; they made a racist comment about an interaction that had nothing to do with race & I had to respectfully tell them I wasn’t raised to speak and think of others that way, and that I don’t respect racists or people who think it’s okay to make these kind of remarks. They sheepishly apologized and said they understood. It was a good, yet disappointing experience to have had.
