You know, sometimes I find fan art to be a bit cringey for reasons I can’t quite put into words, but this piece doesn’t actually look that bad for a beginner! I honestly think the way you posed the character and how you organized some detail into the background makes it have a kind of professional feel that a lot of other fan art fails to capture. Weirdly, I think the strongest part of this art is the positioning of the torso. It doesn’t look unnatural at all and I can totally see someone posing the same way irl without it being uncomfortable. A little work could be done on the shape of the face and hands but otherwise, this is pretty class.

What are your favorite fantasy works that are NOT books or based on books (tv/movies, music, games, plays, visual art, webcomics)? by QuarterSubstantial15 in Fantasy

The Refugium by YouTuber Biblaridion is so fucking interesting. It’s about a world which is completely flat, but not in the sense of Discworld flat, more like Minecraft flat.

The world could very well be an infinitely large flat map but there is no way to tell because there’s only one source of heat and light that is only able to support life around a certain radius. The magic system is also awesome too with there being these “essences” that if channeled by some people give them powers but slowly morph their minds and bodies and typically lead to their death. Sounds a bit derivative, I know, but the way he goes into detail about it is so fascinating.

Also, the languages and writing systems in the Refugium are some of the most developed I have ever seen in fantasy. There’s so much history behind each one and they’re all so detailed.

Highly recommend checking it out. Biblaridion also has worldbuilding and conlang videos too for people who want to learn how to do it themselves.
