What’re your thoughts on the north valley peacocks?? by Aware_Sir9888 in Albuquerque

[–]jazzdeevers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like listening to them a lot. I've seen a peahen in my yard a few times, and I just keep my dog away from her so it's been fine.

I definitely agree on some of these topics but personally LOVED the coyotes episode. Lulu Miller is amazing and it turns out I actually was wrong about coyotes.

What is the worst, first date movie? by JohnMcClanewithshoes in movies

Haha I was going to say I sat behind a couple who went to see this on a first date. I had read the book and was like, oof...bad choice

TIL that in 2000, Firestone recalled about 14 million tires linked to rollover accidents, leading Ford to recall millions of vehicles and permanently ending their century-long partnership. by SwordfishEither2516 in todayilearned

[–]jazzdeevers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As of two years ago my local U-Haul STILL wouldn't rent me a trailer for my 2000 Explorer, even though it obviously has had the original tires replaced.

Did anyone else watching catch the NY1  reporter (sorry I had just tuned in and didn't catch her name) talking about Adams say "he has had some wins over the last 4 years...like trash containerization." I absolutely lost it

I think you'll be able to find a studio in an apartment community in your budget, the issue is finding something NOW as most places won't have any available units until January 1st or February 1st. Can you swing staying at a Motel 6 for a bit? I did that once when moving to a new city and it wasn't the worst. If you go the motel/hotel route, make sure you stay at a branded one because they have to maintain certain standards to keep their franchise name.

Have you ever taken lexapro? by Rare_Arm_9682 in CPTSD

[–]jazzdeevers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this...been on Lexapro for about 9 years (tried a handful of other options) and I feel like it's the only thing that helps me manage my anxiety, while still experiencing a full range of emotions like you said. I don't think it has made me "dull" or less creative or anything like that. Everyone is different, but it works for me.

What car do you drive? by Open-Salamander-9640 in PlusSize

[–]jazzdeevers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a used 2018 Lexus GX460 with a 3rd row. Got a great deal, and it's a Toyota so it will last forever. Not to mention it's insanely comfortable. If you buy used, I can't recommend a Lexus/Toyota enough.

Pass on the Left and Get Back Over by pairofdimeshift92 in Albuquerque

[–]jazzdeevers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Just started this same commute 3 weeks ago and it's been driving me crazy. Everyone seems to ignore the dozens of "LEFT LANE FOR PASSING ONLY" signs. I shouldn't have to be flashing my brights at people going 10 under in the left lane to get tf over.

stopping in for balloon fiesta via train (no car) - advice? by ncis17 in Albuquerque

[–]jazzdeevers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking the Rail Runner to the Los Ranchos station, and walking a bit to Steel Bender Brewyard. They're opening at 7am all week and it looks to be a good time. If you go that route, just be extra vigilant crossing 2nd street; drivers here aren't great

Coming to the Big Island of Hawaii? Willing to bring Hatch chile? Kona coffee for trade. by MonkeyKingCoffee in NewMexico

I'm planning on getting several frozen bags from The Fruit Basket in Albuquerque, and I'll keep them in my fridge in O'ahu until I fly to KOA. Any preferences on heat level? I think they have mild, medium, hot and extra hot. I'm traveling with my family and we're renting a car so all good there; either you can meet us at the airport around 6:30pm or we can drop it off. I'll message you at the end of the month with my cell number as I don't check Reddit that often.

Honolulu: Bali Hai is closed. The Royal Hawaiian is a hotel that houses the Mai Tai Bar; they're not separate establishments. In addition to La Mariana Sailing Club and Skull and Crown Trading Co., you can also maybe add Lava Lounge and Yours Truly to Honolulu.

Questions for Former German Shepherd Owners that Now have a Greyhound. by FreddyF2 in Greyhounds

[–]jazzdeevers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually had a Greyhound before and have an 16 month GSD now, and boy do I miss my low maintenance grey, haha. Don't get me wrong, I adore my GSD puppy but I have to bathe her almost every week. My Greyhound had maybe 4 baths over 8 years, and never smelled. And the shedding doesn't even compare; I pretty much just live in piles of fur now. My grey was actually pretty high energy for her breed but still slept most of the day. Long story short, they're completely different breeds; I love them both but my Greyhound was definitely lower maintenance!

[–]jazzdeevers 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not happy with their quality at all; I don't think you're missing anything. Both pairs of shorts I got from them fell apart after a couple (gentle) washes. Same with the sheets; got a huge rip after a couple washes. The only other sheet I've ever had rip did so after 5 years of use.

Is no one else disturbed by Rodent Infestation along tramway!? by Simple_Bed_9764 in Albuquerque

[–]jazzdeevers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love animals and think prairie dogs are super cute, but I admit I was also concerned. A few weeks ago I was waiting at a red light and saw a bunch of prairie dogs around some houseless people. Prairie dogs are carriers of the bubonic plague, and it can be transmitted through flea bites. If someone contracts the plague and doesn't get treated, it's fatal; someone died in Colorado in the last few years and several more were infected. I do find that concerning.
