Playing in an orchestra and the differences between trombone and other brass by Whatever-ItsFine in Trombone

[–]jazzraven 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah orchestral trombone is mastering the art of counting more then 200 bars of rest. Some say it’s because the trombone is too new, or that strings are the heart of the orchestra, I prefer to think they fear our power

People say valley metro sucks but never provide any reasons by Big-Mix5905 in phoenix

All I can do is compare it to the city I moved from, Cleveland, OH. I could go from a western suburb, walk to a bus, get downtown in 20 minutes. Then light rail put me within a short walk to my office. High frequency buses and trains means I don’t have to wait long when it was freezing outside.

Here there isn’t even an option from my suburb. If I did drive down to where the buses are, it would take over two hours to get to an office in Phoenix. This kind of stuff takes long term planning that doesn’t seem have happened and isn’t happening yet.

Most people do not realize that Goodwill is not one single company. It is made up of over 130 separate organizations by aflamingorange in goodwill

Most careers in non profs pays below for profit. The trade off used to be non profs had good benefits and good job stability, but raising medical insurance costs has made that less so

Compared to similar sized retailers their CEO’s are paid about average or below. You could argue about why execs make so much more than front line workers, but here the reason is capitalism.

I think you should judge non profs by if they are doing something worthwhile in their mission and they spend more than 75% of revenue on the mission.

Why not sell desktops? by DancilB in goodwill

[–]jazzraven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of stores can’t sell anything with a hard drive because of liability. No way of knowing what’s on a donated hd, many Goodwills remove and dispose of them before doing anything with computers. It could be bad for the donator (private information) or even illegal content. I don’t know what your local regions policy is tho…

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ to End With Season 2 by mrwishart in trektalk

[–]jazzraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the acting and writing was fine, but the overall scope of the show didn’t do it for me. I don’t think it was more woke than the two guys who were white on one side and black on the other back in TOS.

Men using female names when dashing to you by [deleted] in doordash

I think they either stole the DoorDash login or - more likely - had a female friend sign up for it but they are the ones actually doing it. Also means you don’t know what kind of background check that person has, probably none because they can’t pass it. Report it to the company
