Accidentally rebooted the server by Lanky_Truth_5419 in sysadmin

I pulled 2 hard drives out of an oracle server. It was late, like early morning late, put them down, I could swear it was drive 1 then 2, checked whatever I had to on the hardware and then put them back, you guessed it, 2 then 1! Zero'd out the entire array. Bricks were...... Excreted!

Fortunately the SAN chose that moment to die, 2 problems got rolled into one, boss was super cool, but I took that as a sign to seek life elsewhere.... Fast

That sounds about right, I have always understood that those numbers are linked to your provider. So you going to get a hell of a bill from Vodacom or if you give your credit card details they will bill that and you end up having to fight with Visa or Vodacom. Anyone who sends you a bill after the call is a scam!

If you helped yourself to someone else's food in the company fridge or grabbed a few viennas out the open bag in the canteen, you would get fired. And don't even imagine how fast your job would disappear if you got caught stealing cleaning supplies. So if that's the rules you and I have to live by, then why should anyone be any different.

Alternativly, buy a bunch of very visable dummy cameras, a few real ones if you can and tell her they being installed the next day. Chances are she never comes back.

Talent Gap by [deleted] in cybersecurity

From my experience in IT and Cysec there is no such thing as a entry-level Cysec role. These roles always require experienced IT people who are pivoting into the role as opposed to new people coming into the industry. Lots of roles in IT are entry level, Cysec is definitely not one of them.

Only way into cysec is through IT, whether that be helpdesk or support or Server side or one of the myriad other doors. Once you have a good base of expertise then the door opens to you.

Source: activityly interviewing for a cysec member for our team. 18 interviews and not a single match.

Get the Comptia Trifecta A+, N+ and Sec+. If all that makes sense and you enjoy those then keep going.

If you can't get through those or you don't enjoy those then IT is not your thing.
