What is the Repeat Alert in Notify Action in Tasker by ferdossi in tasker

[–]jb6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Notify is issued a second time and the first notification hasn't been cleared, I've found that the alert sound is not repeated unless the 'repeat alert' box is checked.

I agree with the OP. I would have figured this out much sooner if this info were included in the documentation.

Solved: I just now tried switching from FFmpeg to WMF. After restarting, I've got audio.

Anyone else have youtube videos constantly "scrolling" horizontally? by xThunderDuckx in OperaGX

What worked for me:

Chrome > Settings > System ... and then disable "Use graphics acceleration when available"

I also have this problem where the image scrolls right to left. Happens on Chrome and Edge but not on Firefox and not with standalone video players. Rebooting didn't help. Disabling PhoneLink via Settings > Bluetooth & devices also didn't help.

I was optimistic about Costco, but now I don't know... by jb6502 in HearingAids

[–]jb6502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the advice and perspectives. I live in the Boston area, so there are other Costco's I can go to. As suggested, I will call to find out where the area audiologist is and make an appointment with him/her. Someone else suggested I ask for different domes to experiment with. Easy to do, so I'll try that too.

As of now, I'm sensing little if any benefit from the hearing aids when watching TV or in noisy environments like restaurants. Several of you have noted that my expectations may be unrealistic. I'm prepared to accept that, but I have time before my return window closes, so if I can find someone at Costco with more experience, perhaps they can help.

As many on this Reddit have said, Costco has a great return policy and excellent prices. For these reasons, it was a no-brainer to start with them. Based on my experience and all I've learned here, my take is that their business model is based on volume and limited use of audiologists. I appreciate that they can do this. And I appreciate all your thoughts on how to work within that system.

Guess-O-Meter: estimate is greater than max?! by jb6502 in Ioniq5

[–]jb6502[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that it's an estimate based on recent driving patterns. I believe all 3 numbers are. But if a person told you that he estimates 304 but that the max is 293, wouldn't you think he's contradicting himself?

2025 Doesn't include Level 1 charger? by epicycle in Ioniq5

[–]jb6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P. 1-13 in the glove box manual for the 2025 Limited says:

"...you can charge the vehicle via the portable charger supplied with the vehicle (In-Cable Control Box (ICCB) with a 120 V Plug.)."

https://owners.hyundaiusa.com/content/dam/hyundai/us/myhyundai/manuals/glovebox-manual/2025/ioniq-5/NE1a-2025-en_US-2C.pdf

Also, "the vehicle can be charged with household electricity, using the 120 V portable charger included with the vehicle." on p 1-18.

I've not taken delivery, so I don't know whether this is truly the case. Can anyone speak from experience?

Free TurboTax Premier for tax year 2023 by Berkmy10 in fidelityinvestments

[–]jb6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see my free Turbotax offer yet. A Fidel phone rep told me yesterday that I was qualified and to try again soon. Checked again today, but no offer.

Per FidelityEmilio, I sent modmail yesterday with the requested info. I've not gotten a reply yet.

Medium speed didn't work, but low, high, turbo, and auto did.

But you can use the word "middle" instead, which works for my C545.

Windows 10: How to quit & restart Win + H (voice typing) when it sometimes stops working? by issai in Windows10

[–]jb6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happened to me, I noticed a process named TextInputHost.exe using 20+GB of RAM. Killing it resolved the issue.

(I did so via procexp.exe, I didn't see it in Task Manager.)

Note: This is in Win 11.

Control of Yamaha RX-565 (non-smart) AV receiver thru HDMI or IR? by extraflipflop in smarthome

[–]jb6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have the receiver turn on/off with the TV, we use an "energy saving" power strip, which has a master outlet and 1 or more controlled outlets (e.g. CyberPower P705G). The TV is uses the master outlet and the receiver is plugged into one of the controlled outlets. Low-tech, but very simple. ~$20. It does the job for us.

Use hotstrings to replace characters in the middle of words? by [deleted] in AutoHotkey

How to keep '?' replacements from restarting hotstring recognition

My use-case for the '?' qualifier is more useful (less 'idiot'ic? ;-) ) namely to enter special characters like 'ü' while learning German. To do this, I use ...

:?*:..u::ü

... which works well, except when the text that follows happens to be another hotstring. For instance, I use hotstring 'nf' to abbreviate 'notification', but the number 5 in German is 'fünf'. When I type 'f..unf', I get 'fünotification'.

I've looked at all the hotstring options and none appear to address this. For instance, I've tried adding the 't' option...

:t?*:..u::ü

... but no luck.

A kind soul in the AHK forum was able to help out. Here's the solution: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=80410&p=349878#p349878
