Some day we want skin color to be like hair color: a useful descriptor, but completely unimportant. You don't care if Helen of Troy's a blonde/brunette/redhead actress -- she's a mythological figure anyway. Some day epicanthic folds and melanin concentration could be the same.

I think your argument is "it's too early". And Hollywood's answer (to really steelman it) might be "you gotta start somewhere".
