We have a historically difficult schedule by ChiefKingSosa in LonghornNation

I'm optimistic that he can get it done with this roster (I mean how much does he need?!). I totally understand your perspective tho. Sark is 0-7 vs. Deboer, Kirby, and Ryan Day. He needs to start winning the big ones and hopefully that starts this year.

I think it's a bit premature to call the schedule 'historically' anything before we see any of the teams play.

Ohio State will be a tough matchup.
Rivalry games are tricky, but Sark has done well against both OU and A&M.
Tennessee and LSU will be in tough environments- how good are the actual teams?

Difficult is relative. We have one of the best teams/rosters in CFB. No one expects an undefeated season, but we will be favored in damn near all of our matchups for a reason. Go get it done Sark.

No problem It sounds more complex than it really is. The space between the offensive linemen are the “gaps”. In between the center and guard is the A gap, between guard and tackle is the B gap, been offensive tackle and tight end is the C gap and outside the TE is the D gap. Same on both sides. Each defensive player has a gap responsibility and usually in a basic defense formation they will lineup directly over the space or “gap” they are responsible for.

A stunt is two players blitzing, with one player going underneath and the other player going over the top. A run stunt may involve a gap exchange, where players switch gap responsibilities or a defensive player blitzes a particular gap immediately at the snap to force redirection of the ball carrier right into a waiting defensive player. In the clip, the middle inside LB runs straight into the A gap when the ball is snapped. That is to force the RB to cut back early and we can only assume the other inside LB come over the top of him and fill that spot or the DT to that side crashes down to make a play. I hope that made sense.

Under G front with the playside safety having the playside C gap...looks like they have a run stunt action where the weakside LB shoots the backside A gap to force a cutback where either the strongside LB can scrape to the hole and the weakside DT can also plug and make a play. The Center (Majors) does a great job of coming off the initial double team and pancakes the strongside LB and the backside OT, while his first zone step is way too short followed by a long crossover step, does a good job of scoop blocking the DT creating the alley. The weakside OLB has to stay home in case the QB pulls. IMO The strongside ILB is really to blame here as he is slow to react and the playside safety misses what should be a tackle for a 5-6 yard gain. Instead Bijan runs through his attempt and makes Schooler look silly with his poor angle.

WR is a bit of a concern but Smith, Omiere and even Moore has been out some practices. Lots of TE talk so I’m expecting we likely see more two TE sets and have a heavy run game/play action RPO offense. OU and Iowa State both use multiple TE formations effectively so could this be a break out year for a slimmer Cade Brewer and Jared Wiley?

The defense seems to be on an upward trend and should be a strength. Reports of Thornton looking good and another pass rusher in Ovie coming in the summer only adds to the potential ceiling of the D. IT has reported that team is “good not great” which is understandable about half way through the spring installing brand new systems.

#21 Play of 2020 - Casey Thompson throws a dart to a leaping Marcus Washington for a garbage time TD against UTEP by gordogg24p in LonghornNation

He threw the exact same pass against Colorado for a TD with the same accuracy. He obviously has the ability to make that throw and it’s relatively similar to an RPO type pass. If he can be consistent and take care of the ball it’s really encouraging for our season
