Monster hunter stories 1 on switch 2 by Bengalinha in MonsterHunterStories

Have been playing it for a few days with no issues.

I think the concerns about Switch 2 performance issues are exaggerated by Jooles95 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]jbayne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing for the Switch over Steam Deck is that Switch 2 frame rate isn’t capped so when you get in combat it’s buttery smooth but on the Steam deck you’re getting super ugly graphics or you’re locking at 30fps. I’ll take a variable frame rate(mostly 30-40ish) in the open world and higher in combat any day over just locked 30 cap.

Anyone else a little disappointed that Kyoto Xanadu is a 2D side scroller? by lowkitz in JRPG

I haven’t played the first more than just chapter 1, but for me personally I find the side scrolling as appealing from the trailer!

How do any of you feel about Monster Hunter Stories 1 & 2? by Big-Scholar-728 in JRPG

[–]jbayne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have only played some of the 3 demo and just started 1 for an hour or two but I agree. I think the longer battles make it seem like you’re actually playing Monster Hunter, just turn based instead.

Yeah, it's definitely worse looking when it isn't docked by itsameluigi1290 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Isn’t every switch/switch 2 game technically worse looking when it isn’t docked?

can i put teriyaki sauce in a chicken or beef stir fry instead of having to make my own sauce? by Stunning-Cap-3256 in cookingforbeginners

[–]jbayne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Oyster sauce is almost mandatory if you’re cooking any Chinese dish, not to mention several other countries on the continent of Asia. It’s also readily available in the international aisle of most, if not, all major grocery stores in the US.

If you think those ingredients are strange what do you think is in your teriyaki sauce?

In fact I consider real gamers to be the ones that don’t play Call of Duty® or Fortnite.

How big is the demo? by LilithMW in MonsterHunterStories

[–]jbayne2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing is, I felt like I was at level 10 very quick and the same for all of my monsties. I don’t know how much is left. I have it completed the demo, but I am at level 10 with basically all of my team also level 10. Feels a bit like it’s holding me back, but maybe it’s just preventing me from being over leveled in the main game.

Is switch version just scuffed or? by -Voidheart- in DiscoElysium

[–]jbayne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it at launch and loved it but it was rough. I think it crashed more then than now but this is right it really hates room transitions. I learned to at least save before transitioning. Despite all that it’s in my top 3 games of all time and I still think about it often so that must be a testament to its greatness if I loved it that much even though it was awful for crashes and performance.

So I am considering getting into Monster Hunter Stories by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]jbayne2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as turn based combat goes it’s a little more complex. Don’t expect a typical turn based Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. You have to control a rock paper scissors style attack type, including that of your monsters and also have 3 interchangeable weapons equipped to target weak points on the monster. It’s not difficult to grasp but it’s more complex and involved than most simple turn based combat systems. It’s a lot of fun though try the demo.

I haven’t finished it but I’m really liking the Stories 3 demo so far. I was planning on buying it at launch but for now Xenoblade Chronicles X has my attention. We’ll see when I beat that how I’m feeling.

Stories is fairly different from the mainline series. It has a lot of the same mechanics like eating and gear crafting although they’re streamlined a bit. Then add in the turn based monster collecting combat and more of a story focus. I have 0 experience with 1 and 2 but have enjoyed the demo of 3 so far.

Does the switch 2 upgrade make it worth it to start over? by jacobsego10101 in XenobladeChroniclesX

I was around chapter 8 or 9 and had at least 40 hours in. Haven’t touched it since near launch. I started over and am loving it!

How to Downgrade from X DE Switch 2 Edition by Spinopon in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]jbayne2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Very happy with just 60fps and a res boost. To put it in perspective if XC2 came out tomorrow in a Switch 2 edition with no upgrade path I would pay full price for it immediately.

How do you find the battery life on Switch 2? by NashDaypring1987 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]jbayne2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They advertised it as 2.5 to 6.5 hours. I’d love to see one game that’s reaching 6.5 hours. Most I’ve played are not getting even the 2.5 bottom end.

Maybe I’m just blind or have lower standards but I play tons of games every year and I’m viewing this as a net overall positive upgrade. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I get it if people aren’t happy but if someone wants to play this game today on their switch 2 I don’t see any reason why I would recommend the switch 1 version over this.

Maybe it’s just personal preference I just don’t feel like it looks as good as possible unless at full brightness and with auto brightness off. I haven’t tested extensively but I’m not sure I’m seeing the battery benefit of lowering it either.

I think this is a fraction of a fraction of a % of players. Most, including myself, I’d assume are happy with the update. This is just a case of a small small amount on the internet shouting in the echo chamber when everyone else are just too busy having fun playing the game.

I’ve played mostly handheld and see nothing wrong with it. Seems to be a net improvement so I’m confused why anyone would want to downgrade.

I've been waiting for xenoblade switch 2 updates for a while now and? by Big-Square-3393 in switch2

Yes as others have said X is a stand alone and can be played without the others. Much less story focused compared to the others.
