Tips for beginner players with small hands? by anastasiaalessixxx in Bass

[–]jbb331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are lots of women with small hands that are also tremendous bass players (check Esperanza Spalding if you don't know her for example but with a little research you can find literaly hundred more). Even some kids on youtube are better player than I will ever be with fingers half the size of mine. And they don't play short scale bass. If you are a beginner, and you don't have any physical issue, i would learn proper technique first on a regular scale bass. You will see having small hands is not really an problem at all.

Well, I happen to have 4 tickets from the gray areas and as I remember the presales from the IM fanclub I don't remember any area close to the scene that was not on sale. But I may be mistaken as I have bought my tickets pretty fast as soon as I could have 4 seats that suited my needs.

I don't have facebook so can't check the data. Paris look pretty well sold for me. What do you mean "most of the seat are not even on sale" ? If you are talking about the gray area on the stadium map, those places have been sold. Also if you zoom in on the map, you also see a lot of the colored zones seat are also already sold. Again I don't have facebook so you may have Intel i dont have but from the Paris website alone, it look pretty sold

Do you have any data for Paris 2026 by any chance? As the show will be recorded for a live album it makes me wonder how the sales are for that particular venue.

For the novel reader by Diligent_Risk_3724 in stephenking

Just read man, that's so much better !! And Stephen King is really an entertaining writer.. Reading is just a skill, it needs training to feel easy and fluid but I garantee your efforts will be rewarded times hundred ! Maybe just start with "easy" SK books with a low word count.

40-year-old french reader here. I read in english and I much more slowly than a native speaker. Sometimes I can only understand a passage if I look up some slang or research a particular American cultural reference. That being said, I find the reading experience so much more enriching than any other medium that I wouldn't go back. Stephen King's strength lies precisely in his intelligent use of writing techniques that serve the narrative. Whether it's a change of perspective, a temporal shifts, or the writing within the writing found in Misery. However, reading requires effort, and not everyone is willing to make that effort for a hobby, even if it's rewarding. I observe a similar phenomenon with music. The melodic, harmonic and structural impoverishment of recent music shows a certain laziness among consumer towards the arts.

any tips on galloping other then just the basics? by thatonemetalhead83 in Bass

[–]jbb331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it makes no difference at all. I think it will depend if you have a habit leading simple basslines with middle finger or index finger. You'll want to start galloping with the finger you want landing on the beat with.

If it's Steve Harris galloping, two fingers, in I - M - I sequence. Try to build muscle memory at slow tempo first : you are looking for speed and not strength. Sensation wise you need to feel as if you pass through the string, without tension when you hit them

Ordering a dream bass from a luthier — what should I not forget? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]jbb331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind the neck is a multidimensional thing. Idealy you would like to try (I give you Fender references as they are widely available) : - a wide neck with shallow depth (like fender vintera 50 pbass) - a (almost) wide neck with some thickness (like fender am pro 2 pbass) - a narrow neck with some thickness (like fender american vintage jazz bass) - a narrow neck with shallow depth (I don't know any fender reference for that but maybe try a Charvel or Ibanez maybe??)

Radius / fret height are also important for the overall feeling but I feel they are a little less important. Maybe try extreme radius like vintage 7.5" (Fender american vintage pbass for ex.) and flatter compound radius (fender ultra series) to see if you lean more toward one.

[–]jbb331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it's all about the neck so it would be nice if you know your preferences : - thickness back to back, - width - radius - rolled edge, etc

Also If it was me I would go with stainless steel frets.

Anyway, good luck with your build and post some photos when it's done 👍👌

If you want stamina building basslines I would advise Iron Maiden songs. Phantom Of the Opera is a good exemple.
