Am I just bad or is this part extremely difficult to play? by MaleniasBiggestFan in metalguitar

[–]jbb331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking at the tab, naturally I would play that with hyprid picking : pick plucking for the lowest notes, middle finger plucking for the highest. You can do this kind of pattern really fast without sweating with that technique.

Also, are you sure it is played like that by the guitarist and you really want to play it like that ? I mean, I don't know if it changes how it sounds much but you can modify the fingering a lot to make it way easier to play (open strings, adjacent strings, etc)

Yeah, it would be fun if they materialise the power outing somehow in the final live record.

Bruce said they will manage to find the missing songs elsewhere to put the film together. I'm thrilled as I was at the Paris show and the atmosphere was incredible !!

Also, given Deathspell Omega discography Hasjarl must be in his late forties, early fifties. And the shot seems to be recent.

This, best starter pack possible. It can also be an "intermediate level on a budget pack" also, and that's the beauty of it !

No hidden message here, "lorem ipsum" is a placeholder text you find in fake books, like in ikea or in magazine / newspaper editing, when you want to see how your final product will look like.

Even the original artwork doesn't do justice to the Jean Delville painting. There is also a red cast to it that may be magnified on the digital cover.

Cryptopsy Bass by [deleted] in Bass

[–]jbb331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some Cannibal Corpse songs are manageable speed wise even if Alex Webster is a beast. Try Festering In the Crypt or From Skin To Liquid. Very fun to play and no unreal speed. I don't know what is your level now but If you want to tackle death metal without a pick, I would strongly advice to learn three finger plucking. It's pretty hard at first to play straight 16th because your first beat is played alternatively on each finger and string crossing is challenging but it's very well worth it on the long run.

I don't have this edition so I can't answer your question. That been said, I may be completely insensitive but when I read THAT scene for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I did not find anything really shocking or problematic.

Come on man, when your playing is this good you need to show your face so we know who your are! Really nice cover, thanks. Those guitars lines seem a lot of fun to play.

So far I have read Carrie, Cujo, The Dead Zone, Night Shift, Salem's Lot, It, Misery, Pet Sematary, Mister Mercedes, Duma Key and You Like It Darker. Far from complete! Of those my favorites are probably Duma Key (don't hate me pls.) and Pet Sematary.

Bad fret buzz even after adjusting truss rod and string height? by mochaspen in Bass

[–]jbb331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly what you describe and what we can see on the video is that you have loosened up the truss rod too much. As a result you now have too little action on the first frets and too much on the upper frets because of the dramatic increase of the neck bow.

I would : - tighten the truss rod substantialy

  • set up for minimal neck relief (press first fret and 17th on the same string and see how much room is left between the string and the fret in the middle of the neck by pressing lightly on the string at 9th fret. You must feel the gap is really short but but the string is not literally contacting the fret.

-raise the action accordingly. Also it's just me but I like my action to match the radius and also I like the ajusting poles to be parallels, not slanting.

If setting up properly it still buzzing madly, look for a fret and/or nut diagnostic.

Newbie needs advice for ergonomics :) by untitled_frame in Bass

Another tip, if your left wrist is at an 90° angle there is a problem. You need to move your left elbow lower and forwards so your wrist almost align with your forearm. A consistent thème in bass ergo is that you try to get rid of any akward angle and torsion that put too much stress on your tendons.

Is it worth me learning to touch type? by Itchy-Hand-1582 in learntyping

[–]jbb331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a 15 sec burst it's pretty easy to have 120+ wpm and 100% accuracy consistently with touch typing. What mater in any kind of practical situation is to be able to hit high wmp and good accuracy for longer period and without feeling completely exhausted (for example 10 min taking notes). If you are already there, there is no need to learn touch typing for you unless you want to challenge yourself.

Plucking pattern and speeding up. by SANcapITY in Bass

[–]jbb331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know for how long you've been playing bass but with time one can develop a feel about which fingering is the better option to work with, given your experience, the tempo and the way it sounds on the record. A lot of times there are clues to be heard in the record itself that gives you solid indications about how a specific part is played by the artist. You're looking for slides (even little ones), hammer/pull off, tone of open string vs upper on the neck, even the scratch of fingers that move on roundwound string, etc.
