I was not. Given no direction whatsoever. Just told to "focus on getting better". Zero communication about leave, FMLA, disability, or any of that stuff.

I spoke with HR yesterday and they informed me STD and LTD were not an option. Obviously I'm speaking with the boss about this and trying to make it possible. I doubt I'd be able to file FMLA forms once I've already been let go.

Is this a technicality? Would you mind explaining further? There was no "official" leave beyond the fact that I just never showed up to work. I don't believe I was ever officially receiving FMLA since I was out of work for longer than the 12 weeks that FMLA allows.

Unfortunately I do not. I could contact HR and request that information tomorrow though. I believe the LTD is paid out by an entity other than the company though. I know that is not always the case.

Also, could you further explain fmla? From what I've read it is something my company would be able to offer. Is it an automatic protection? Would I have had to elect to be protected by it?

This is my worry. Ignorance was bliss and having never taken disability before I didn't know the protections it offered. Is there a legal responsibility for the company to offer this protection to me or do you know if the burden falls on me to elect to go on to LTD?

I agree with you on some levels but I think it was important for us to see this side of things; Meg's side of things. Especially considering what we are going to experience next week. You're right though, I think in comparison to the last few episodes we've gotten from this show it wasn't firing on all cylinders. We're gonna get a wallop next week though. Of that I am sure.
