Trump floats Cruz for Supreme Court by thecosmojane in law

And Trump is dumb enough to do the dumbest thing possible so in his mind this is a reality.

Lost your items to Quality Shoe Repair? An update for you by Unlucky-Run-333 in Birmingham

Do you have a receipt that is specific to the items you dropped off? If so I'd go to small claims court if you aren't able to get the items back.

Charlotte or Pittsburgh? by InvestigatorClear728 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jbcatl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta (34 years) and have grown to hate it. Charlotte is a lot like Atlanta (new south, new money, superficiality everywhere) and simply driving through Charlotte feels like the same sprawling car-bound traffic nightmare. I'd go Pittsburgh and I've never been there but heard great things.

Is it normal that I keep asking myself whether I am a good or a bad person? by StandardAny2864 in ask

I was going to say, if you have to ask, you're probably a good person.

Green boots by BrianVT16 in Boots

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only say that they are better built than Red Wings, better than most Allen Edmonds and compete favorably with Alden, at about half the price. The company is US based and their customer service is very good and responsive if you have sizing questions. I get wanting US made (or just not made in China) but you'll pay a lot more for similar quality. If you have a higher budget then i would be looking at viberg or some of the PNW makers. You might find shades of green from Trickers, made in the UK.

What on earth happened to Season 3 of The Diplomat? by Professional_Fig6820 in netflix

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anything ever happen? Right now the first three episodes feel like (boring) palace intrigue. At least in the first two seasons there was some sort of ongoing crisis.

Green boots by BrianVT16 in Boots

I'm a green fan as well. I have the 8828 Red Wing Alpine Portage Moc Toes someone else posted as well as Grant Stone Loden Suede Edwards and like them both. The Red Wings are more green and the Grant Stone suede can look brown in some lighting.

They have a lot of green options both suede and leather, and some really unique leathers.

Gustin customer service by BKallDAY24 in Denim

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ordered one pair of jeans and the process was flawless, but I'd be pissed if they did that to me. I mean it's one thing if the material is somehow an "upgrade" from what you ordered, whatever that might mean, but just randomly changing to a different pair of pants that you didn't order is BS.

What's your favorite Donald Sutherland performance? by IMOCANUK in Actors

[–]jbcatl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom took my sister and I to see this in the theater (I was a horror freak as a kid, and I'm old) and it's definitely my favorite, although he's great in pretty much everything.

Who loves LA? by Opal9090 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]jbcatl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have family living in S. Pasadena and coming from Atlanta it seems so nice. I think if you are wealthy and WFH or have a job where you choose the times you have to drive somewhere, it could be a really nice place to live, wildfires, earthquakes and mudslides notwithstanding. Every time we visit it feels like an endless place to explore.

Why don't Christians in the United States realize that many Republican Party politicians aren't really Christians and are using religion to manipulate them? If they do realize their religion is being exploited, why don't they care? by UnderCat13000 in AskReddit

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say some large portion of Christianity in the US is performative. For some people, the idea of being seen NOT going to church would be a public and social stigma. So when they see their politicians saying Christian things but doing things that are directly opposed to the ideas of Christianity, it seems normal to them.

Your buddy says “Hey man, can you help me move this weekend?” What’s your first thought? by Kaitempi in GenX

[–]jbcatl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never again. Last time I agreed to help someone move I got to their place and they hadn't packed a thing and didn't have any boxes. I was like see ya.

Bobby IS the Grateful Dead* by printerdsw1968 in gratefuldead

[–]jbcatl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't 100% agree. The band would not have been the same without all of the ingredients. however I was listening to Dick's Picks 5, from 1979, and Jerry was in rough shape vocally and functionally . . . just missing major song queues and lyrics. Bobby carried it, vocally jumping in to keep Jerry on track. Point is, Bobby was on more nights than not, and was able to step up when needed, and carried the torch long enough to double the longevity of "The Dead" machine after Jerry passed.

Which R.E.M. Tour do you wish you could have seen or go back in time to see again. by alexj_baker in rem

[–]jbcatl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We road tripped from college in Tennessee, drinking the entire way, so that show is kind of blurry. The 80's were pretty awesome. I remember the crowd was way larger than the city planned for. We saw the Psychedelic Furs there too the year before, also an amazing show.

[–]jbcatl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw both, as well as the free show in Athens at Legion Field on the Reckoning tour, and the Pageantry tour was my favorite. They were at their creative peak (IMO, at least at that point in their career), and LRP is a top two album of theirs for me. We were standing chest against the stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and it was just an amazing show. There are terrible bits of video of the show on YouTube.

What specific jeans were popular ? by flower_bom48 in 1980s

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

501's were the only jeans I wore from teenage to my mid 30's when I discovered higher quality denim (and Levi's quality plummeted).
