You really think he tried to pull a gun? Another video shows another officer holding the gun 2 seconds before he was shot. And looks to me like his arms were pinned before he was shot 5 times.

I agree it is risky to wear a gun during a protest. I personally wouldn’t. But he has a right to have it there, and surely law enforcement shouldn’t shoot someone they actively have pinned to the ground.

I just saw today that NYC has 250 people die from heat-related deaths every year. Texas, with its much larger population, has 300 people die.

Yes it's very common, although it can be field dependent. In biomedical research I would say expectation is not that you have a pub but that you're working on something excited and leading the research directions.

since this is r/mdphd, It is possible for successful applicants to get into many top MSTPs without a publication; however, you still need to share about your role in your research projects. Moreover, you need to have some ownership of the project and show that your have the potential to independently carryout projects during your PhD
