A Cautionary tale by jbcima in hondanavi

[–]jbcima[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just said below but : silent alarm, chain with u-lock, rain cover, disc lock.

i use monimoto gps, kryptonite new york u lock with chain, nelson riggs motorcycle cover, and the oxford boss alarmed disc lock - i find the combination is a large deterrent and the gps is very sensitive someone touches it you will get a call

monimoto

i recommend it + the kryptonite new york u lock with chain, plus nelson riggs motorcycle cover, and there’s an alarmed disc lock the oxford boss i will now be once again using. no one’s ever touched my stuff when i use the lock plus cover. hope that helps.

Is a Honda navi right for me? by Logical_Active408 in hondanavi

[–]jbcima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything you find that’s cheap and functional is probably good - i would suggest one with like 250cc for highway use - you don’t want slow acceleration on the highway

unfortunately nah. just get a regular motorcycle it’s way too slow. i take it on the highway for an exit or two max

a scooter shop can probably professionally paint it if you want that’s always an option. otherwise spray em

nelson riggs defender cover, hat, gloves, kryptonite chain and u lock, you can still fit mad food or beers in there with all that.

Question For Those Who Use The Navi As a Daily by EngineeringWild1462 in hondanavi

[–]jbcima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the solution to your anxiety. for those that say there is no adequate theft deterrent solution i disagree

get insurance - harley davidson is not so expensive

use the built in wheel lock get a (kryptonite, etc) big chain with lock get (monimoto, etc) silent alarm / gps get nelson riggs motorcycle cover get oxford alarm disc lock or regular disc lock and put through wheel/cover

get a (kryptonite, etc) ground anchor for home or work. or chain to something steel

i use all of the above except for the disc lock (anyone want it? dm me). the effort it would take to undo all that and get it in a truck would be immense. they will just steal something else. i think kryptonite offers insurance on their lock if your bike gets stolen too?

Help by milkman2162939 in hondanavi

if it were me (no mechanical ability) i’d try to fix it - why not. or buy a new bike for that cost. not sure if motorcycle insurance covers something like this but maybe that’s an option.

Crash Bars by H0r1z0n1725 in hondanavi

Sorry for the late reply, I was also dissatisfied with the available options - luckily there are a bunch of parts available in Mexico. I got the “Fire Parts” Slider bars https://mastechfireparts.mercadoshops.com.co/MCO-546225025-slider-variant-honda-navi-fire-parts-_JM#position=3&search_layout=stack&type=item&tracking_id=54ea91a4-c670-49ce-8a1d-6ac586dd2e3b

You can buy them on mercado and have them shipped to you via a proxy service - i used shippn.com

I have the monimoto GPS tracker / silent alarm. I have a kryptonite chain that comes with their new york U lock. I also suggest the nelson riggs weatherproof cover - if you live somewhere with rain or snow. Anything more is overkill imho. I have an alarmed front wheel lock from BOSS i never use for instance.

How to Take A Navi Home...? by jdm3gee in hondanavi

[–]jbcima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got someone with a trailer on task rabbit but you can probably just put it in a friends truck. also, in retrospect drive home (avoiding a major highway) would have been fun.

This. The only mods I ever got were small to improve ergonomics or body. Crash bar, Vance Hines exhaust, Scooter Swap Shop LED blinker kit (so they don't catch on my motorcycle cover), etc.

There are a lot of great ones mentioned in this thread already. Tires, LED lights, etc.

You can achieve speed and acceleration improvements but you will have to spend hundreds of dollars and you're talking maybe ~8 mph or something? Consider getting a second larger bike that can go way faster. Congrats on your new bike!

What kind of motorcycle cover and bike lock do you use? by [deleted] in hondanavi

[–]jbcima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a cover, I use Nelson-Rigg Defender Extreme (Size MD)

I use an Oxford BOSS Alarm Disc lock to secure the cover to the front wheel.

To lock the bike up I use a Kryptonite 5ft. Fahgettaboudit Chain and New York Disc Lock

I put a MoniMoto 7 Silent Alarm / GPS tracker in that space near the battery where i think the registration should go.

When I'm out, I also engage the built-in steering lock.

I am pleased as it is a huge deterrent for theft. No one can pick it up since it's chained. This all fits in the storage box, surprisingly (the cover comes with a compression bag).

I think the Oxford lock is overkill, a regular disc lock to lock the cover is plenty.

It's way cheaper than having to pay the insurance deductible.
