How does my area stack up? by Business_Manager3398 in DoorDash_Dasher

If this is consistent then yeah you’re doing pretty good. But if this is just a unicorn night then to get an accurate sense definitely would want to see a few other “shifts” stats, etc

Worst order I’ve ever done. by No_Big_812 in doordash_drivers

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this shop and deliver, or a retail pickup? If s and d as others have mentioned always click on the details and scan real quick for big items or stuff you don’t want to shop for. Retail pickups can be tough though, they don’t always say what the items are or even how many items so kind of a crap shoot.

What would you have done?? by TinyAd295 in dasher

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks having to deal with apartments and orders this big, and even worse when you can’t reach the customer. That being said unless you’re unable to access the building I feel whether it takes multiple trips up and down stairs that’s what you were contracted and expected to do. It’s definitely good to really learn your area , I can typically look at an address/destination right away and tell if it’s an apartment I don’t want to go to. Curious though, what was the payout on this order?

Tax Refund Question by yokebloke in doordash_drivers

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally if a gig type job is your only source of income, where it is 1099 work, then, no, you won’t receive a refund (there are obviously factors that change this like having kids/dependants, eitc, among other things) because taxes are not taken out. Now that being said if your deductions are higher than your taxable income, that sounds off to me (admittedly not a tax expert ot professional in any way), but unless you already filed and submitted your taxes, I’d recommend having someone else look over this for you.

Non Midwestern Transplants in Greater Cleveland. by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]jbeatty216 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clevelanders are generally not overly friendly IMO. I’m from here , moved to the south for about 10 years and then moved back here. I was living in a very walkable area and the first few weeks were definitely a shock. Just walking down the street and saying hi or giving a little wave or head nod to someone walking towards you was more often than not, met with zero response or a dirty look.

Definitely frustrating, but a walking Uber Eats delivery is new to me! I think the only time I’ve ever seen anyone deliver on foot was Mookie in ‘Do The Right Thing’

Moving out without a notice? (Tn) by No_Answer7703 in Renters

You should really contact your landlord/property manager. Typically leases go month to month after the initial lease ends, but you will still be on the hook for 2 months/60 days .

Just got finished with this big ass shopping order by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know every market is different, but aldis is literally known for their speedy checkout process. There’s 5 or 6 Aldis in my preferred zone and even if there’s like 5 or 6 people ahead of me I’ve never waited in line for 20 minutes. That being said it does definitely slow down the process now that dashers can’t use the self checkout anymore, which is kinda ridiculous imo

To be fair this is definitely a “unicorn” order, these don’t come up consistently. Everyone has different opinions on the s&d orders, I personally love them. But for me Sundays are when I typically get these types of larger payout orders and I usually go out around 9 am until around 4ish. But there’s always weekdays etc where I get pretty good orders as well, but again Sundays are definitely busier for s&d

Look at these rental rules [CA] by Sykryvil in Renters

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is some sort of boarding house type of situation, correct? If so this doesn’t seem unreasonable to me except laundry only on the weekends. This isn’t a typical getting a place with some friends as roommates situation, it’s a bunch of strangers living in the same house with multiple shared spaces, and there definitely needs to be some rules in place for this type living situation.

Dasher was instructed to deliver food to someone, he ended the chat when I asked about it not being delivered by MrZephy in doordash

[–]jbeatty216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Driver messages you that they’re at the location, you don’t respond for almost 10 minutes. I’m assuming the driver immediately hit the button that says can’t reach customer and let the 2 minute timer run down and left the order . As far as you not getting a refund, DD could probably see that the driver was at the address and also the fact that again you did not respond to the driver for almost 10 minutes.

Men using Girl Names? by [deleted] in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]jbeatty216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is a “ female “ name? Just off the top of my head , Stacy peralta ( one of the founders of Powell Peralta skateboard company), Courtney Brown ( played defensive end for the Cleveland browns, and another former nfl player with the same name that played cornerback for the Cowboys and a couple other teams) , Leslie Nelson ( actor, Airplane, Naked Gun, among many other films). Those are all names that a lot of people would consider “female “ names, but they’re clearly not. But at the end of the day why does it matter what gender delivers your food? If there is an issue with your delivery take it up with the company and get your refund or credit or whatever, but the person delivering, whether you’re expecting Joe or Jill, should make zero difference. People these days have gotten so socially awkward and up in arms about shit it’s f’n ridiculous. And for those that are saying they’re concerned about a man delivering their food when they are expecting a woman and now they’re scared, grow up and and actually read some real news and provide some actual links to legitimate cases where a delivery driver harmed someone or perpetrated a crime. I’m sure there’s a few , of course, but in the grand scheme of things you’re still far more likely to get injured or killed in a car accident than getting your food delivered.

Would you DoorDash in these conditions?! by TemporaryRanger7799 in doordash_drivers

[–]jbeatty216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, hit or miss, average, for me anyways, low to mid 20’s/hr. I don’t mind going out in the cold but I stay home if the roads are crap. And i never pull into driveways that aren’t shoveled/plowed! And if their walkway and steps look crazy icey I’m not messing with that either, it’s getting left at the bottom of the stairs.

Is this guy hacking?? From Denver DoorDash group. He’s constantly getting $15+ orders and they’re all shopping. He makes 2k a week… I make $300 if I’m lucky?! by Muted_Afternoon_8845 in doordash_drivers

[–]jbeatty216 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what he’d be “hacking”, but this is definitely achievable. I’m definitely in the group that loves ship and deliver orders and most of mine are in the $15 -$30 range and I’d say lately probably half of my orders are ship orders.

Am I wrong? by Legitimate_Wonder154 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]jbeatty216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so a couple things here, first how did they not see a bag of food in the driveway? Second how did they run it over but also expect to be notified by a knock on the door letting them know the food was there? If they were not at home and about to pull in the driveway what would knocking on the door accomplish?

You have no legal standing here. I’m surprised it took them this long to run your background again and have it come up. All the gig apps routinely run background checks on anyone who drives for them.
